I'm writing an essay on the topic of forming friendships in order to further goals, and i'm looking for ANY decent examples of people or countries that had to cooperate or even ally themselves with an enemy in time of war or disaster. Any help would be very greatly appreciated!!

As you think and write, keep in mind what you mean when you refer to a "country". I think you want to refer to the "government" of a country at the time in question. For example, the current government of Iraq is allied with the US when recently we were at war with a different governmentr of Iraq. Ho Chi Minh was the leader of Vietnamese people and he allied his country with the allies in WWII (including France) and helped defeat Japan even though France still owned his "French Indochina".

You also have to be clear about what you mean by an "enemy". What is a geopolitical enemy? an ideological enemy? Is a country an enemy by definition if they do not have a functioning embassy in that country? We have no embassy opon in Iran or n. korea. Are they automatically an enemy then?
Is Iran an enemy?

Recently, Iran accepted help from the US in relief of earthquake disaster. Does that qualify as an example?

properly you have have been given some extensive usa commerce companions interior the 'enemy' record. Saudi Arabia as an enemy?? are you severe? usa and the Saudis are ultimate pals, albeit at the back of the curtain. Indonesia has long been a delightful, accommodating, liberal Muslim pal for the individuals, as has Malaysia. Did you positioned them on the record merely by way of fact they're muslim international places? Hmm . The Pakistani management has shown their help for the country constantly, and Russia hasn't carried out something too arguable for an prolonged time, barring the unusual spying row. China will quickly rule the international, so we could wish they're on the individuals' facet. With their inextricable, substantial commerce links, it is not any longer effortless to make certain them shooting eachother every time quickly Afghanistan and Iraq are American territories now, so i won't be able to make certain them being an 'enemy'..... except you're speaking on the topic of the voters of those international places, extremely than the governments. once you're speaking approximately help from the voters, you could possibly take lots of the european off the 'allies' record.... there is somewhat little help between the persons for something usa does or says from now on, and the time will come while their governments will provide up sucking as much as the States too. Of usa's actual 'enemies', in elementary terms Iran has the army to start up an extremely vast conflict. fortunately usa could have Bulgaria and Puerto Rico to help out

Yes England,U.S.A. and USSR is one example also is the two waring factions that came together in China during WW2 to fight the Japanese. What about us involved in Viet-nam and now being involved now with foreign trade even though there still communist. What about England during the late 1600s and during the 1700s would Allie with France or Spain back and forth. I don't know I'm just a stupid truck driver!

The best example is the West allying itself with the USSR in WW2.

A few years ago Turkey suffered a massive earthquake and its traditional rival Greece helped out with aid. They are not enemies, but they have significant historical and cultural differences.

America wasn't real thrilled with Russia before World War II, but we aligned with them against the Germans/Nazis.
Afterward, we REALLY didn't get along with them.
