you have to train yourself to do it, and i suggest cranberry juice, its good to kill off infections of the bladder because its very acidic. its not normal to not feel thirst.

I'm the same way. If I don't feel thirsty, I can go without drinking, and then I get thirsty all of a sudden & drink a glass or two of water. Unfortunately, our bodies aren't telling us to drink enough water.
The way around this is to make it a habit to drink a glass or two every time you 'go to the bathroom'. The more you drink, the more you'll go, and pretty soon your system will be flushing itself the way it should.
Another hint that I have is to stop thinking of the taking on a water as drinking. When we drink, we expect a nice taste as when we eat. However we don't stop breathing when the air doesn't have a smell to our liking--we just breathe. Drinking water can be the same--just open your throat and chug it down as if you were taking a big breath of air--just down the other pipe!
Also stay away from very chilled water--that constricts the throat and you'll drink less. Have it just slightly cool.
Good luck, and now I have to start following my own advice again. I'm no exception to falling back into bad old habits!

I understand the expected life time of a water heater is 10 years. You mentioned "a few years." It may simply be reaching the end of it's useful life. Having had problems like this, I'll tell you that you do NOT want that thing to rupture and empty the water where ever it is sitting. Get it checked by a professional or just go for replacement.

for bladder/water infections cranberry juice is brilliant. My way of remembering to drink at least 8 glasses of water is to fill up a bottle I think 1 or 2 litre in the morning and by night it should be gone..don't worry if it hasn't all gone to start with it will be hard but if you keep at it it will work, it's VERY important to drink plenty of fluids as it shifts out any bad germs and helps to keep your body working properly, if your still having problems go to your Dr.

I am assuming that you drink other things throughout the day. Your problem probably lies in the fact that maybe water doesn't taste good to you, so you drink juice and soda and whatnot. To drink more water, always have some in bottles or a jug in the fridge so it's chilled (usually it's more enjoyable that way) and carry a water bottle with you in your bag or car. Anytime you're thirsty, do NOT go for juice or soda, drink your water. Have the juice and soda be a special thing, like for dinner time. When you're thirsty, you're actually dehydrated.

while eating meals. Also right next to your alarm clock set out a water bottle. When you wake up and your alarm clock goes off you will know and remember to drink the water. Just remind yourself in those kind of ways.

What works for me is to always have cold water bottle's in the fridge and always bring one with you were ever you go. If it's readily available you find you drink more water.

just carry a bottle with you everywhere and take small sips, just enough to wet your mouth all the time, and keep refilling it, after a while it will become natural to you, and you will drink water with out noticing
