God allowed Abraham's son to live. This event is very important as it showed Abraham's faith and obedience to the one true God and was a precursor of events to come. God knew that Abraham would obey Him. Fast forward to the time of Jesus. God willingly put Himself in the exact same position as Abraham . His Son became the sacrifice so that all people could obtain forgiveness of sins, through Him. The difference is; God allowed Abraham's son to live, but His own Son He allowed to be scourged and beaten and killed. Not for His own well being, but for all His children so that they might live. Jesus was our Lamb, who was led to the slaughter, who overcame death and lives forevermore.

This is the connection we are to draw from this event in history: It's about sacrifice, faith, obedience, love, mercy, and the forgiveness of sins.

THE TRUTH. Abrham's wife Sarah couldn't have any children while Abraham wanted a son so much he made a promess to God praying if God gives me children I will sacrifice the first child in the love of God. The years pass and Sarah, out of kindness and pitty, suggested that Abrham should also marry their maid Haggar to carry his son. And he did andd had his first son Ismail forgetting his promiss to God. So he had this repeated dream that his killing his son. So he shared this with his son his son told him do what you've been told to do. And they had a debate on who's sacrificing more in this very hard situation is it Abraham who is forced to kill his own son or is it Ismail (also a prophet) who's giving away his life. So they went to the mountain and Ismail went his father willingly to finish the job. Abraham held his son's forehead and did try to cut his son's throat but the khife didn't cut through although it was a sharp knife. Then God sent a sheep from the sky to be slaughtered instead of Ismail after Abraham had realized the gravity of what he promissed earlier. God didn't like the fact that one of his beloved prophets promiss him something and not live up to their promiss. Abraham lernt something there I think. And God also did that for us to be a happy occasion a feast were we slaughter sheep at that day and give to the poor.
Years later Abraham had Isaac (Israel also a prophet) from his first wife Sarah when she was really old. He first heard the news of having a child with Sarah by the angels that were sent to destroy the gay village in history of Lout (Abraham's friend and first believer who became a prophet also) and chose to spread Abraham's religion at the mentioned village.

Strange the this all-knowing God would have to test someone this way - I mean, isn't he God - doesn't he know already what Abraham would do? Why would he traumatize Abraham's son that way - how long after that did his son worry the day was coming that he might be disemboweled for God?
And no - I don't have the READ THE WHOLE thing to know that threatening to kill a kid for any reasons is WRONG!

that story of the bible was difficult for me to understand as well. abraham did not kidnap his son but out of obedience to God, he took him and was ready to kill his son as a sacrifice to the Lord. Now in doing this, the bible tells us that Abraham believed that God would raise Isaac from the dead if Abraham were to kill his son.
Why would Abraham believe this? because God made a promise to Abraham that he would be the father of many nations. Since Isaac was his only son, the promise made to Abraham had to be fulfilled through Isaac.
All this to say, Abraham stepped out in faith that God's ways are greater than his own and that if Isaac were to die, he believed that God would still keep his promise to make Abraham the father of many nations.
It also helps us to see the great sacrifice of God who willingly allowed His only begotton son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for the sins of the world. And in this case, Jesus was indeed raised from the dead!

Abraham's son, Isaac, was not kidnapped or forced to do anything. If you're going to read the Bible then read the whole thing. This is a classic case of taking Scripture out of context. Isaac was a willing sacrifice -just as Christ was a willing sacrifice. God does test our faith from time to time, but this is because it is necessary to strengthen our faith in Him and dependence on Him. This particular story is a prelude to the sacrifice of God's Son, Jesus Christ. If you would've continued reading you'd have found that God Himself prevented Abraham from harming Isaac and supplied a ram for the sacrifice. At the risk of once again being repetitive; a text without a context is a pretext.

God knew that he could bypass the attempt, yet Abraham did not, till the certainly adventure.. And it wasn't certainly a attempt from God, it became right into a success of His plan, even Abraham's obedience.. All mankind will see and be attentive to the success of Gods plan, whilst the adventure occurs. yet no guy would be attentive to His plan with out first the adventure. guy could adventure the understanding of Gods effect, for the effect is Gods plan.

Abraham did not kidnapps his son. It was customary for a man and his son and the bible also mention that they were accompanyied with abraham's servant to a point and abraham blindy trusted in God and along the way when his son ask him about the sacrifice he told him that God will provide for it. Isaac also beleive in God he was a young man strong enough to rebel against his father but he did not.

An earthly father would test the obedience of his son. So, why not our heavenly Father. Further, the act of Abraham was a prelude to Christ's sacrifice.
Anyway, God did not allow him to kill Isaac. Unless, of course the non believers would come up w/ a hoax by misinterpreting fossils and saying that Isaac was actually killed.
Hey, can you use an eye drop to cure your red eyes. You are not reading properly.

Remember that Abraham was not permitted to kill his son. The point of the story is that Abraham was able to feel empathy for Heavenly Father in regards to the loss of His Beloved Son.

That was to teach US a lesson.Notice when Abraham got to the base he told his servants, the lad and I are going up and WE will return.Abe knew the promise of God that He had said that through Isaac He would create a great nation.Abe knew that somehow God would do right. It says "Abraham believed God,and it was counted to him as righteousness"
The other lesson was that,as Abraham said "God will provide himself a lamb",now there was a ram caught in the thicket ,not a lamb, why would ol' Abraham say that?Coincidentally, that hill Mt.Moriah is the very hill 1000 years later that King David would decide to build the Temple on and the very hill they also called Calvary ,or Golgotha, where you know who was crucified.....what a coincidence,eh? what?
