I currently do not have health insurance due to a job change and was wondering how much a procedure like getting your wisdom teeth would cost out of pocket....My wisdom teeth have recently impacted and it's really an annoying feeling (of course my teeth wait to impact the only time in my whole life I don't have health insurance). Please do not recommend I get health insurance trust me I am aware, it is not a possibility for the next few months. Thanks in advance.

Cost For Wisdom Teeth Removal

I have to do the same thing (NYC). Major hospitals that are affiliated with colleges offer 'inexpensive' dental care. They have dental program grad students who preform the procedures while under the supervision of "real" dentists. The place I'm going to (NYU Dental) will extract a tooth for $90 or $100. I've had 3 broken teeth removed by students and the results were great. I need all 4 wisdom teeth pulled and they said it would be $400. I no longer have the natural crowns (they broke off), I only have roots that need to be cut out so it's somewhat of a surgical procedure now. I can't quote the exact cost of a removal of an impacted tooth.

The downside is that they do not always supply nitrous oxide because of some sort of licensing issue. It's one of the reasons it's more affordable. I assume I will not be "knocked out" when I get the wisdom teeth pulled though the novocaine has been enough for me in the past. They will also provide root canals at half the cost of a private dentist.

If you wait too long and it becomes infected the cost goes up. My friend just paid $600 out of pocket for the removal of ONE wisdom tooth at a private dentist because she had developed an abscess that needed to be drained beforehand.

I had my wisdom teeth removed in 2001 and had a good insurance plan. And I had to pay about 400 . But that's been a few years I'm sure its higher now. Also with my insurance plan I had to be at my job for a year before they would pay anything. Hope this helps.

How Much Does Wisdom Teeth Extraction Cost?

Simple extraction of a wisdom tooth can cost as little as $99 per tooth. The cost of wisdom teeth that are impacted can cost between $230 and $340 and even more. Because costs vary in different areas of the country, contact your dentist or oral surgeon for their charges. Also check with both your dental insurance carrier and medical insurance provider. One or the other type of insurance may cover a portion of the cost of wisdom teeth removal, but plans do vary widely in their coverage.

But that doesn't mean it might be more or less expensive. I would wait till you get the insurance. I don't know if you can wait the 30 days but its expensive.

Some places will let you do monthly payments.

Bottom line, unless you have the best Dental coverage there is you will still get soaked for this proceedure. This having been said, putting this off is asking for a world of hurt (literally). Pain swelling infection, fever, abcesses.

It is going to cost you. I don't know the current prices, when I did it 25 years ago it cost me $1,500.

I had just gone through a divorce and was far from wealthy, but it had to be done.

Put this on a credit card if you have to, but the longer you wait the more you will suffer. Also consider infection can travel through the sinus to the brain.

Debt looses it's punch if you are dead.

Depending on where you live, it will probably cost around $250-300 per tooth. Have an oral surgeon remove them. They know what they are doing, and you will suffer less.
