Did it never rain before the flood or did the laws of physics change? I know what the scripture in Genesis says, so please don't just quote them and call that proof or explanation. I am simply wondering how this could have occurred the way it is described. The page listed below describes some of the problems in accepting this story just as it is presented. If you are a believer who accepts every word of the Bible literally, please be kind enough to explain why such apparently inexplicable contradictions to reason and logic such as this do not cause you to doubt the sensibility of your beliefs. Thank you!

Well, when Noah was loading the boat, he accidently loaded two male dinosoars rather than a male and female. Thus god invented the rainbow which is still used to today to signify love can be diverse and is about more than just procreation.
Sorry. It's a good question that deserves a good answer, but this was irresistable. lol lol lol
question for the people answering- if there was a mist or an atmosphere with more water, wouldn't the likelihood of there being a rainbow be increased???

This is exactly the problem with attempting to take a book of myths, fiction and tall tales as fact or something to be believed literally. Rainbows are just light shining though water. Did water not exist before the flood? Did light not exist? Did the two NEVER come together in a way that would produce a rainbow? Here are a few simple things for you to consider:
1. Where did the water go after the flood was over?
2. Who did Cain marry?
3. Why does god create a formula that people "fail" and need redemption if he loves us so much?
This list go on ad nauseum. It seems you have good questions and you are in search of answers. Try this Web site:

Yeah in Genesis it seems to indicate that it had never rained before that point. Some people speculate that the earth had another layer of atmosphere that was made mostly of water. It is theorized that this layer produced a greater concentration and pressure of oxygen (much like a hyperbaric chamber), which contributed to the long life spans of the people before the flood.

It does not say that there were no rainbows before Noah, only that the rainbow was to be a symbol that a flood would not destroy all life on earth again.

Actually, it is true that it did not rain before the flood and there very well couldv'e been rainbows but it didn't rain. There was mist that came out of th ground and there was a water that circulated the earth in the sky that was held in a "canopy". When the flood happened, it changed the environment in many ways, the oxegen level was differant, the earth's shape changed slightly, etc... and since God created the laws of physics He can change them as well.

My mother actually told me that it would "rain" from under the ground. She said that "rain" water would seep up through the ground and that was how life was sustainable before the flood.
As you might have guessed, I am not a believer. However, my mother's answer to your very same question was really interesting. Not interesting because it could be true, but interesting that it is so out there and people really believe it.

Those guys are right ,man was it humid or what?
After the flood the whole atmoshere changed, sun got through and that's why lives got shorter and shorter as the gene pool got more and more polluted and the sun did it's damage. That's also why radio carbon dating doesn't do so well,it needs sunlight to be effective, you do the math.

It rained before the flood and in the garden of Edan it misted every day. As I understand it the structure of the rain drops was changed to refract light after the flood.

Yes, because before the flood there was no rain yet. Read Genesis 2:5,6. It says: 'The Lord God did not send any rain yet and there was no one to cultivate the land, but water would come up from beneath the surface, and water the ground.'
What's so illogical about this? No rain yet, so no rainbow. Apparently, the first rain caused the Great Flood. Unless, Frauds misinterpret the fossils again and say there was rain.
