I think the widow's mite story tells us to trust the Lord, he will always provide for us. Give to others not just what you can afford, but give so it hurts a little. It's easy to give away something you don't need, it's a little harder when you have to give of yourself. It's a story of true compassion.

she gave all she had but she gave it truely from the Heart. God wants everyone's tithe but if I go into church and give my money with the attitude "I would rather have this money to eat, travel, etc. " God would prefer I keep he. He only wants a cheerful giver. She was criticized by those around her for only giving 1 mite when the other ones around her gave several. God said that her 1 mite was more blessed than the other guys who gave many more. I think God was trying to tell us to give what we could with our heart and true meaning.

Andy C,

I find It to be profound. It says to me that whatever I can scrape together to give or share makes a difference in MY life as well as in someone else's.

I heard the story at Mass tonight from St. Luke's gospel. How generous she was!

AND what kind of a world do we live in that one has to be that poor.

I pray to be generous myself. Blessings...........

:-)

It' harder for the well to do to part with what they have than it is for the destitute. The humble have more compassion as well.
