Don't get me wrong, I am a Christian. I wonder though, if you don't believe in God or a higher power, why are you always responding to the religious questions?

Some may do it for the same reason religious people send missionaries out. They want to share their perception of the truth with those who they see as lost. Maybe you should look past the annoyance, and be grateful they care.

Others may do it because they find it unbelievable that people can believe in something so simplistic. These athiests may be disdainful of people who believes something just because it feels good, and they (religious people) refuse to see things as a rational person would because they don't want to rock the boat in which their beliefs are floating.

Others may be tired of all the religious people who think that whatever the higher being is running everything (if there is a higher being) belongs to christians/muslims/etc.. just because these people have named it/him and have outlined all his characteristics, etc.

And maybe people are bored on a Saturday night and they have found there is more action in the religion & Spirituality section than in the household cleaning section (if there is even such a section).

I have to say, thank you for being respectful about this. Most questions like this I avoid because they're so rudely asked, I know the asker doesn't want to really know, just start a fight. So thank you for being respectful. I appreciate that. :)

Secondly, to answer the question, just because this is a religious section, doesn't mean that atheists can't be here. No, atheism isn't a religion. Atheism is simply the belief that God or any deity doesn't exist. In essence, it's a lack of a belief in God or anything. But we can still be here because you can't have belief without disbelief. It's a natural paradox.

Also, just because we're atheists, doesn't mean we don't know anything about God or the Bible or any other religion. A lot of us were former believers of some sort, raised in one religion or another at some point. Some of us have also explored other religions besides the one we were raised in before becoming atheist. So we know about religion.

Even those who were raised atheist can know about religion. Any atheist, whether they were born believers or not, can study a religion academically and have at least a basic idea of what this or that religion believes and practices. So just because an atheist doesn't believe, doesn't necessarily mean they don't know anything about religion.

Therefore, even an atheist can answer a question about what this or that Bible verse means, because as long as said atheist can read and comprehend, then there's nothing stopping them from reading the Bible and making their own conclusions about it.

It's a slow day for religious people.

Personally I found a "new" game I like and have been playing it since Thursday night. I'm not christian, I'm not athiest either though so I think it allows me to answer the question.

Say a novena and contemplate the mystery of the Atheist's
mentality ... ask Milton,Ann Rand Or Richard Dawkins "there is more to heaven and earth then ......." Karl Marx etc.
So should I throw out the baby with the bath water ?
Moral precepts and the thinking discourse are valuable regardless and in spite of blind faith . don't you think....some might say religions don't have a monopoly on life's morals, paradigms and spirituality yet that's not sufficient cause for
extrication
hope that helped some

"The first requisite for the happiness of the people is the abolition of religion" - Karl Marx

Some Communist states, such as the Soviet Union, promoted state atheism and opposed religion, often by violent means; Enver Hoxha went further than most and officially banned religion in Albania.

I'm also a Christian.

I think they are just wanting to cause arguments and probably don't want the truth.....or they couldn't understand it.

Some of their questions are hard to give answers to that they would understand or it would take a Long answer to write everything we want to say.

We care and want to help, but if their mind is made up, why should we try? We feel sad for them .

If they are sincere, they can ask God to come in their hearts and He will reveal things as they study the Bible and ask for wisdom.

People are willing to help IF they will truly listen and not just argue. We are still learning also.

This group of people is a group that is lacking self-assurance, and so continually need to lash out at others to hide the deficiency within. In time, they will wake up, and realize that it is hard to kick against the thorns, as it was put to Paul.

For me, two reasons:

1- To try and bring some rational thinking to help free believers from the bondage of religious indoctrination.

2 - To study the mind of the believer and try and understand how and why they allow themselves to be enslaved in a fantasy world.

Both reasons are endlessly fascinating.

i'm with the spiritual faction

it is said that when u enter discussion on something it means u'r still learning about it urself, even if u'r a teacher imparting knowledge. because those who already know something deeply feel no need to discuss it.
