Okay, so now they are going to put Mr. Haggard through a spiritual "restoration" process that is supposed to take three to five years. In this process they are trying to "pray" out his gay. This is a direct quote taken from Yahoo news page from the "restoration" authority about what this therapy involves. Pay close attention:

The process includes counseling, in groups and alone, and prayer. Each restoration is unique, with a program tailored for the needs of the participant.

"From the Christian perspective, we think in terms of prayer, we think in terms of what we call godly counsel, where godly men who are clean themselves insert themselves in the life of the one who is struggling," London said.

The symbolic laying on of hands may also be a part of the recovery, London said.

Okay, back to my question, Is it just me or does this sound more like a prison rape than a "restoration"? The "clean" men "inserting" themselves in the life of the "struggling", laying on of hands?

Yeah. I'm sure that's it.

The Evangelical Right hosts a vast conspiratorial underground that secretly rapes gay men who come to them seeking counseling. Said group then broadcasts it's intentions through thinly veiled press releases on the internet.

Right.

It's foolish enough to begin with. It doesn't need you playing word games to make it worse. When they say "inserting", they mean they are willing to be like a sponsor at AA, where a person is available to come and counsel you whenever you are "tempted". "Laying on of hands" is a prayer posture where all those who are praying for you put their hands on your head or shoulders. None of this is sexual. Give the poor little Evangelicals a break. It's been a tough couple of weeks.

The laying on of hands is the imparting of th holy spirit to do a work that God has ordained. No man should be called clean cause the bible says there is none good and that our righteousness are like dirty filty rags. But the blood of jesus make us justified that override mankind at fault to anything. It is neither a restoration or rape and one need think nothing apart from what the holy bible tells us.

Well, prayer, laying hands on another's BACK and stepping into a brother's life who is struggling are common Christian values and excercises for treating problems.

I see no problem, nor do I think its funny.

My roommate lived on streets, shooting himself with 40 to 60 needles a day, his entire vein system collapsed and he wished for death constantly.

The mesures mentioned above changed him.,...he now has a car, house, wife, children, job and is a faithful Christian. It can work for Brother Haggard, too.

Thanks

Sounds to me like Mr. Haggard is trying to find a way to get his ministry back. You can't cure 'gayness' because it's not an illness. Just like being black or having green yes is not an illness. People are different is all.

yes, it sounds quite dirty--fear not! I'm sure Mr. Haggard is not actually participating in this any more than he chooses to--it's just an attempted publicity stunt to show their brainwashing on gays works

I consider it brain washing to try and change the way he is now, to what they think he should be. If he agrees to it though, it is his choice. I'm curious though if that will really work. Will be interesting to see in the future.

Yeah, that's right. Compound a problem that already exists.

It just gets worse and worse, doesn't it?
