Again, more people thinking Catholics worship Mary or pray to her statue. Such ignorance!
I don't think non-Catholic Christians show the Virgin Mother any disrespect. Different faiths assign varying degrees of importance on her role.

Jesus had siblings. There is, of course, James. Then, there is Judas Thomas Didymus. The twin. Tradition taught that Judas Thomas was Jesus' twin brother. And before you get upset about that, please remember that tradition has affirmed much, much stranger things as "true." Jesus probably did not ever say those words as quoted in John. Every gospel tells a very different story about the last moments of Jesus' life. Mark, which was written much earlier tha John, simply says Jesus cried out and died. No words at all. The other writers couldn't accept that, so they invented last words for Jesus, and the way we know they did is that they generally don't agree with one another. So your quote of John means nothing in terms of establishing who has brothers and sisters. And I must also point out that even if there was some basis for the sentiment (and there certainly might be; such ideas seldom come out of the air), it has nothing to do with the question of whether or not Jesus had siblings. Jesus may have chosen a disciple because he wanted Mary to be included (as she was, according to tradition) in the inner circle of the Church for the rest of her life. He wanted his trusted disciples to take care of her, to be sure she was included. It matters not a jot whether my point is right or wrong; all that matters in this discussion is that you are attempting to show that Jesus did not have siblings, and your argument does not in any way advance your position, in my opinion. By the way, familial ties are strong whether or not the sibling is a full brother or sister or a cousin, so what you say about brothers and sisters applies just as well for cousins, and the RCC firmly holds that Jesus had cousins. That pretty much unhinges your entire argument.

Who is showing disrespect?
Praying to Mary? I know Christ would not approve of that.
However, I have no doubt that Mary was a good and loving mother, and deserving of respect for being chosen as the mother of Jesus Christ.

because she is a sinner in need of salvation the same as the rest of us...after Jesus was born, she performed the ritual "sin cleansing" and offering afterwards just like every other sinful woman, and because she is NOT holy and NOT to be venerated and prayed to. Does this about cover all the bases? Oh yeah, and there's all the statues made of her, too. A BIG NO NO...read the 10 commandments! Would Christ approve of all the mary worship? absolutely NOT!

Ive never heard of Mary being disrespected, and I'm a christian, i think a lot of people have heard a lot of things about the catholic faith, Ive heard that they pray to Mary instead of Jesus, and you have to confess your sins to a priest instead of going directly to Jesus

No one of The True Christian Faith would ever do any thing to disrespect Mary..... All Christians are non-Roman catholic.... as RCs are not of The True Christian Faith.... There is only one True Chucrh and that is The church of which Jesus The Christ is The Head.... All who come to God in The Way he proscribes will receive His free gift of Salvation and God's promise that their Salvation is assured.... no one of the RCs has the assurance of Salvation. They are forbidden to claim they do. that is in direct oposition to the teaching of Jesus The Christ..... and Christ dose not approve of that

IMHO, non-Catholic christendom do not show disrespect to Mary. It is Catholics who are embarrassing her by worshipping her and calling her the mother of God.
Many non-Catholics hold Mary as models for the faithful. But, never ever to be worshipped.
Oh, by the way, did you know that worshipping Mary originated from pagans--even those whom God hates. One reference material says that the worship of Mary was derived from the worship of the pagan goddess Artartes.
And, did you know that God hates those who worship the Queen of the heavens? Read Jeremiah 7:18, Bible in Today's English, 1966 Catholic Edition.

Nope, He wouldn't approve it!! Jesus honored His mother, why shouldn't we? He said to imitate Him! Dishonoring His holy mother is not imitating Him! I don't get why they think we worship Mary when we tell them over and over again that we don't!
We pray to her because she is much closer to God than we are. If you can ask you friend to pray for you, why wouldn't you ask her to pray for you? She is the holiest person (besides Jesus) that ever lived, and she completely obeyed God's will. Why WOULDN'T you ask her to pray for you?
To others above:
Why isn't Mary the Mother of God? Mary is the Mother of Jesus. Jesus is God. Therefore, Mary is the Mother of God.
And the Hail Mary is Biblical.

Mary served a wonderful purpose. However, many focus way too much attention on her and think she can intercede for us to God. Jesus clearly stated that ones would have to pray to the Father in His (Jesus') name. Jesus himself loved his mother, but nowhere in the scriptures does he exalt her.

Since when did it become disrespectful to call the truth about Mary the mother of Jesus, that she is not the mother of God and praying to her is wrong and she cannot help you because God set Jesus alone as mediator between God and men?
