I am a christian and go to church... I do not work on sundays.. and my work knows that..right?.. so on sunday they are having a meeting.. and of course I can't go because 1) i am not allowed to do anything on sundays much.. and 2) Its the sabbath, I have church...
So I told him that I had church and it felt he was pressuring me.. Afterwards, I felt like so stressed out,... and I am not very good at sticking up for myself.. but it all worked out in the end.. but I just want to have a inner strength.. a strength where you don't tear up when certain people come ask for you in their office to "talk".. you know?.. THose pressuring times... anyone got any suggestions?

Let Christ be your strength. Remember all he went through, and never said a word, KNOWING what pain awaited him, all for you. When your on the verge of tears, ask Christ to share that strength with you.

I don't think that they can discriminate against you for saying that you can not come in on Sunday because of your religion. You said it all worked out in the end.

Do not be a doormat, just be assertive. There are 3 ways. Think of it as a pole. One end is Aggressive where you do not have respect for others. The other end of the pole is Passive, here you do not have respect for yourself. The middle way is Assertive where you have respect both for yourself and for others. This is done by being polite, but firm. By sounding like a broken record. By not having a tone in your voice that makes you sound unsure, because this will give an aggressive person the fuel to keep trying.

Just keep practicing.

I avoid getting around people I feel I cant talk to .There isnt to many people with that bad of an attitude that they will make you feel insecure about your decision. Most managers are just like you ,and when it comes down to a legal issue you have the right to not go on Sunday .You said everything worked out so next time just tell someone how you feel chances are it will always work out .If not go higher up over the manager.

Saturday is the Sabbath not Sunday. Luke22-23 says Jesus rose the day after the Sabbath

Was this mtg after church or before / during? After church is no big deal and before is also OK.!!! JESUS was critisized for healing on the Sabbath and his reply was "If your OX was stuck in a ditch would you not free him on the sabbath? Jesus said if its got to be done than DO IT!!!!Farmers harvest on the Sabbeth and milk cows and do what they to to do . Now if the OX is stuck in the ditch get him out and if you stand to lose your harvest or if a mtg needs to be on the sabbath so everyone can get there for the betterment of the Co. than so be it!!!!!

If when you accepted this job there was the understanding that you would never work on Sunday then you have no reason to be concerned but if after you were hired you told them you would not work on Sunday they can let you go.

I sure hope your Jesus will pay your rent and feed you when your manager decides to fire you and hire someone who will work when he/she is needed.

You can worship anywhere...a church is just a building. Make your worship above that! Prayers can be said anywhere anytime...if you need a building to worship in I suggest you look back to the time when your Jesus, held his services out in the open...no buildings, no specific place...just among the people.

Go to work, then find out if you can attend a later service...talk to your minister...I think he will be able to help you determine what must be done and what should be done.

To be a Christian does not mean you have to attend Church, God is everywhere.
Ever thought that maybe that day was the only day the meeting could be arranged?, a reasonable boss respects peoples religions and their beliefs. Life is full of give and takes, just not onesided.

Your religion is causing you stress because of the irrational belief that some invisible man in the sky will be upset with you if you work on Sunday... a day when many many people work anyway. Just keep that in mind.

They can't fire you for not going in on a Sunday if you have told them previously you cannot work on a Sunday due to your religious beliefs. If they fired you, you could sue them for religious discrimination.
