In answer to the overall question, it is usually the stigma that comes along with being a guy. To show emotion is to show vulnerability and in that sense is not societally acceptable. Men are expected to be strong and by no means are they supposed to cry in public. Well, I call BS to this. A man denies his very existence and self value by allowing someone or some group dictate his thoughts or feelings for him. It is funny, however, that the stigma sticks solely to men. There is a stigma about women that has the same consequences and I call BS to that as well.
Games? Games? You speak of games as if it is the guy who instigates the game. Do you not realize, that every time you play coy or hard to get or even protectively unapproachable, you are the very cause of the game? You act as if it is always the guy that is in the wrong, but honey "IT TAKES TWO TO TANGO!" The game was set in motion, the very moment that man and woman were created. It simply has evolved through time and turned itself into this conglomoration of missed signals and rhetoric that is evolutionarily stifling. If people could communicate better and there were not these invisible lines drawn in the sand, dating and relationships would be a whole lot simpler. As well as better off to boot! Each time that you stereotype a "guy" all you do is add to the stigma that is already in place. So, do not play phone tag, simply call him and tell him that you will be home at a specific time and actually be there. Poof! No more phone tag! As far as other games, it is up to you to put a stop to them in your own rendition of dating.

Well some guys just don't like to share their feelings, but if they really do like you they will make the effort.
As far as the phone games...they don't really like you that much if they are still playing phone games. Sorry to tell you and I'm sure I'll get a thumbs down for it, but it's the truth and you asked.

Men don't like to show emotion because simply they are men. They want to be hard rather than sensitive.

It's called being shy. I am, and if I had a girl I'd be the same way. Just don't pressure him to not be or he'll get more nervous and be more shy.

This is because most men fear rejection. For him to display his feelings openly to you without knowing what your reaction is going to be could be a little scary.
