The Iraqi government will have to do that if they want it. The US government can't keep forcing themselves on countries that don't want them there.

Lasting peace!

We have created a monster and have no control in Iraq! We would need 3 times the troops!

Iraq is in a civil war as demonstrated by the massive murders and 80% of our KIA's were killed by Iraqi's!

Bush and Rumsfeld has so mismanaged this war that we are on the verge of losing it! You can't hide in the Green zone forever! Now they want to send the National Guard back to Iraq!

I think that the civil war is going to play itself out and someone will end up as president! We aren't going to have a say, we lost that long ago when we failed to nip the insurgency in the bud when military commanders asked for more troops and were refused!

We have no job in Iraq! Most of the police and the NG are corrupt and we are just making matters worse. Why would anyone want to stay there? We aren't fighting terrorist, we are fighting Iraqi's who can't stand each other!

Stay the course is a crock as our death rate is going up and this war has gone on longer than WW II! It is time to leave! They will sort it out after a blood bath, but that is what is going on now! The only difference is our troops are included in the number of dead!

We have no further job in Iraq! We screwed that up, but then, we should have never attacked them!

I think the key to getting lasting peace in Iraq is to disarm all of the civilians and the militias. Offer to buy the guns and ammo from them and arrest anyone who is caught with a gun in their home or on them. Also take away other weapons like knives and swords, etc. That would be the place to start.

The country may need to be divided into three sections, like the United States is divided into states. This way the Kurds, Sunnis and Shiites would all have their safe areas.

An intercepted message from Zarquaii said that they were going to start a civil war, the old divide and conquer technique. So why doesn't everyone know who and why they are doing it, and stop the fighting? Since they don't stop the fighting, seach all of the homes and buildings, etc. and arrest everyone who is caught with any kind of weapon.

I recently returned from iraq and yes we can. The problems are the small factions that used to benefit from it's previous rule are now upset because they no longer rule over everyone else through fear and torture. The current iraqi military forces are being trained to be as profficient as america's except that after so many years of them not having any of the social services that we recieve it takes time to teach them how to establish their own such as police, firedepartments, a stable government etc. etc. Once the government in iraq can establish their own military to a competent level and their police force is set up then they will be able to do just that, run their own government without it being a dictatorship. Then when the other occupying forces can slowly withdraw so it isnt a shock to the infrastructure of their society. They wil be able to govern themselves as a democracy and maintain law and order. Then slowly set up other services such as health care, garbage services, a clean water supply and work on rebuilding the country themselves to better serve the people. Once this is accomplished the people themselves will no longer have the need to fight over resources but instead take their lives into their own hands and improve it.

Not through military might. You can't froce people to get along. They have to choose to get along. There are more wars and deaths in the name of religion then any other reason. Untill the human race can evolve to the point where we can accept each others differences and befielfs there will never be lasting peace. Some body will always be pissed of by what someone else believes.

Yes, we can. Write your congressmen and Senators about bringing our troop home little by little. Soon the war will die down and no more fighting. Start now.
