at night & she has more of a hard time going up our steps. She will hesitate at first. I have had people tell me it could be artritus or hip displaysia. She does not wine but I did notice earlier that she at first had a hard time sitting on her rear end. That just seems strange. We are very close to her. We are going to get her in to the vet but just wanted to know if anyone can help us out with any advice about this. It would be much appreciated.

Sorry, I don't know, she may have sprained her coccyx, but anyway I wish her and you all the best.

It is very likely that she has hip dysplasia - the signs are showing at the common age of 4-6 years old.
Keep her comfortable until you get her to a vet.
Has she has any recent injuries?

Try to keep her as comfortable as possible until you can get her to the vet. It does sound like she is in pain. She seems very young for arthritis. Could it be an injury?
Try to limit the stair climbing for her, even if it means moving her bed to a lower level of your home.
I hope there is something the vet can do to relieve her pain.

Geesh, what an idiot. I can't believe someone just responded with that.

It sounds like your dog may have some spine problems. If there is a university animal clinic near you, take your dog there. They are better equiped to get x rays and tests and have specialists there if you need them.

Hope your pup feels better!
