There are about 31 units in the US Army that trace their history back to the colonial times. Thirty of these units are National Guard and one an active component. There are 4 units that share the honor of being the oldest units in the US Army. They are the 1/101 Engineers (ENG), 1/181 Infantry (INF), 1/101 Field Artillery (FA) and 1/182 Infantry (INF). Each of these units from Massachusetts carry the lineage formed in 1636, so they have the same age and share the honor equally.

The oldest CONTINUALLY operating unit in the US Army is the 2nd Cavalry Regiment. Formed in 1835 and active from then to the present day. Some may have originated earlier then the 2nd Cavalry, but they have all had gaps where they were not active unit designations.

Both are well at what they do. The largest change I've noticeable among the 2, having been in a single carrier and uncovered to the opposite, is the angle. From what I have noticeable individually, the marines have a tendency to be a bit of extra alpha-ish and frequently use older guns (in comparison to the navy). Army does not most likely mess with water that so much, which, I think the marines need to. As for recommending one over the opposite, I'd cross with the navy when you consider that they have a tendency to be a bit of extra laid again and feature tons of heavy equiptment. If you do not brain having humans for your face and decide on to be extra competitive, then marines possibly the larger option. Either approach, if you are in need of to head SF, I'd on the whole begin studying a moment language now.
