It sounds like mild depression, but I don't like that term - it's so loosely slung around. What you experience is normal for the everyday person. Because we live in a time period where lights are everywhere, most people tend to stay indoors many days rather than be outside, since of course it is much more conveneint to be indoors. But our bodies crave a natural form of B-12 vitamin that only comes from the rays of the sunlight. It's why on gloomy days, you feel much more sad and lonely and secluded than other days. May I make a suggestion? Your body needs this vitamin, B-12, for mood management (as silly as it may sound, it's very important.) Dark green vegetables carry loads of B-12. Sometimes that's not enough, and you can get a B-complex supplement at any grocery market or drug store. I take 3 a day, but I hve a friend who takes 6-8 a day. It takes an incredible dose to overdose, so don't worry, you'll be fine. Take two one day, and you don't feel better, take a couple extra the next day. The B-vitamin will distribute throughout your system in about 48 hours and you will feel much better. I also suggest St. John's Wort, it's a natural mood-lifter. It's not as flexible as B-complex, St. John's Wort is more potent, but it's all natural.

If it is just sometimes then I would say that your normal but if you feel like this all the time then it is a posibility.
Things you want to look at are if you have no energy, is every thing slow, have you lost interest in stuff and feeling sad most of the time. If you can relate with these things I suggest talking to someone qualified.

Is this something new for you or have you always been a loner? There are people who love being with others all the time and there are people who enjoy living like a hermit. Don't label yourself too quickly unless your wanting to do nothing and be alone has become a personal problem for you or those close to you.

You did say this is the way you feel "sometimes" and not always, didn't you?

Hi Niki, I think you know the answer to this question already. Depression really sucks. I have been dealing with it for most of my life. It sometimes makes my life miserable. But, you just gotta hang in there. If you have not already, please see a therapist. You should be able to find help in the government pages. City or county, under Mental Health. Most have a reduced price program available. Or maybe through your Church.

Good luck. Don't give up and don't give in to it.

To be honest we all have days like that. I too, at times feel distant and alone but I don't think for me it is depression as it is my way of sorting things out.
If you feel like your avoiding things and people for reasons out of the ordinary then it could be depression but like I said for me it is the norm.

youre normal - everyone feels like this from time to time.

however, if this is starting to affect your life, then dont be afraid to seek help. i know that i started feeling like this a while back, and it led to me missing lectures in uni, not seeing friends etc, so i got help from my GP. there is some great (mild) medication out there that can really help, or various therapies, counselling, yoga etc etc which can all help.

although, it is totally normal for people to feel like this, and if you don't want to, you dont have to seek help.

just know that you dont have to do this on your own if you dont want to.

you need to get yourself assessed by your doctor, before you can say that you have depression. it could also be related to the time of year, (Seasonal Affective Disorder), see your doc

I guess it depends on how long those feelings last. If only for a short while, then, yeah, it's normal.
