well i'm not saying religion is a necessary tool for survival but at least if your purpose is to relieve other people from your so-called "ignorance", why would you force them to. if you are saying religion isn't necessary, then mockery and disrespect is more isn't necessary.

because they are afraid. they are scared to look at their own lives and see what is missing. they are afraid to know what changes they would have to endure. for some people, ignorance is bliss.

For the same reason Jews mocked Jesus Christ
some two thousand years ago.
Subconsciously, people look for some miracle to
prove God's existence.
Somehow, it seems difficult for believers and
non-believers alike, to grasp the fact that God works
within the Laws Of Physics.
A poet once said, "Creation is God expressing
Himself."

I do not believe in Aliens. I have no desire to go to UFO forums trying to disprove UFO's and make rude remarks for my own entertainment. THAT IS UNLESS. I am really a UFO believer and am trying very hard not to believe. So I am insecure about my beliefs! Then I MUST go and make it not real. It must go away so I will be OK on the inside again! Kill The UFO people they all must die!!! ROFL .. This is the framework behind many of these people. I know because I was one of them for decades. Professing to be wise I was a fool. Now I am a fool for Christ sake!
May GOD richly bless you.

The problem is that so many people now days push their religion in others faces, or they use it for a crouch or an excuse to support their own ideas instead of just being honest. That's why people who aren't that religious mock them. Faith is great, but keep between yourself and your God, don't force it upon others because that's not faith, that's conformity, it means that if you do something you want every one else to do it because you do.

Because tolerance goes both ways. For example, a Christian fundamentalist and a Buddhist may think each other's views are ridiculous, but it is even harder to display tolerance that the other exists.

I don't really know. Maybe if they were as clever as they seem to think that they are they'd be able to figure out how to find a couple friends. Maybe then they wouldn't be online making arses of themselves on a Saturday night.

Some mock religion, some mock politics, some mock this and some mock that. It's called freedom.

Because often many people recognize a seed of truth in something they hear or read or see, and it scares them to death because to acknowledge it (whatever spiritual path caused it) would mean that they would have to change their behavior.

Instead, they do everything they can to relieve their coginitive dissonance by railing and screaming and trying to find ways to disprove it.

Its good to mock and to be mocked. It is called introspection. Without it you become bull-headed and give phony speeches; Just like Little George (Bush) He is not my president. Just kidding, of course he is, but I am so ashamed of him.
