My 21 month old daughter is learning so much right now and it is very exciting. More exciting than the new house we are closing on in 2 weeks. My daughter says allot of new words now tonight she said ice cream when we had some for dessert. My hubby and I just smiled and were so proud. You think your child is brightest, most cute, sweetest child that has ever lived. (Of course my really is, lol). I WOULD NOT LIKE TO MEET A PARENT THAT IS NOT THIS WAY. Trying to out brag each others as Moms is just dumb. If your co-workers, family members, etc are talking too much for your taste get a puppy and brag about it. I listen when someone brags on pets, children, nieces or nephews, etc it is a nice thing to do.

It doesn't matter if a million other kids can do it. Yours has just managed to. You are so proud of the achievment they have done it is special to you and you want to share it with others
Guess what, my 7 y/o ran in a fun run today and came 3rd. He got a medal. Yes other kids have done this but I am proud of him because this is a big thing for him as he is not the most sporty of kids and is so proud of himself. Yes I know he is like other kids but this is my kid and I am proud of him. I don't think unless you are a parent you will ever fully understand

when you are a parent it is a big deal to you. and its actually good to have that kind of attitude about your kids because they hear you bragging about them and it boosts their self esteem. it also boosts their self esteem when you make a big deal to them about the small things they do. it encourages them. if you ever have kids you will understand but probably not until then

Yes, I believe that some parents go completely overboard in that area. You have to remember that it is their job to be like that though. Parents need to love their children unconditionally and encourage them when they are small and the things they are doing are not the most thrilling to every person ever.

I like to talk about my children because they are the most important thing in my life. They bring me joy and the things they do, even if another child can already do them, are a big deal to moms because all children are amazing.

because they're overly excited and love their offspring so much that every little thing they do for the first time is incredibly newsworthy to them? You know, that same feeling when you get a new modern mp3 player or buy a bunch of expensive clothes and how you want to rant about them.

I'm about sick of people doing that too. EVERY child is different. I have had to listen to the crud my sister-in-law has spewed for the last 12 years, and I'm just nauseated. No, my children didn't walk or talk or get potty trained as quick as hers. SO WHAT!!!!!

We do it beceause every parent likes to think their child is the best thing since sliced bread. Speaking as a mother of 2 I think my kids the best in world and no one is ever going to change my mind.
