yes, but i would research the breed first. beagles are sweet and loveable dogs, but they howl a lot, the love to dig, they love to chew and they LOVE to sniff everything...if the dog gets loose...say goodbye! he'll be long gone where ever his nose takes him. they are hounds, and hounds love to track things...like rabbits, birds, etc.
with the right owner they are AWESOME dogs...with the wrong owner...the poor dog ends up being the odd man out and usually ends up in the dog pound.
i work with the spca, and i see LOTS of beagles in the pound (along w/ Dalmations, Rotts, and other cute dogs) because it was the wrong dog for the person's lifestyle.
some dogs are just not meant for some ppl.
so be VERY careful when picking a pet. and be sure that if you do deside on a dog...get the correct training. it's an OWNERS responsibility to make sure the dog gets GOOD training to learn how to behave well...they don't come programed to know how to behave. *just like kids*, they must be taught.
good luck!

No they bark alot and run away all the time. When my dog was a puppy, he was with the beagles. The first few nights he howled/barked like a beagle. Now he acts like a Boxer though. But if its an inside dog and you dont mind barking, youll be ok.

Beagles need to be in a very safe yard with fences they cant get through.
They are very trainable and will learn what is acceptable and not acceptable. They are great with families as well. Lots of time has to be spent on them and with them. They are very active and appreciate lots of exercise and stimulation. They're not used as customs dogs for nothing.
They bark and howl if bored, lonely or unhappy. Hence excessive barking/howling when boarding.
They must be always on lead when off the property because once they get on a scent then off they go, no stopping them.

not if you have never had a beagle before. i got a beagle and i was really surprised. do research and don't get a puppy. find a adult to have first. they are a handful and being a puppy makes it worse. they aren't very smart and they fallow their nose first not their mind.
do what you think is best

I had a beagle puppy for a while. They require a LOT of attention, and are very hyper. They are also very cute, loyal dogs.

YES!
I've grown up with beagles my entire life - out of any dogs I've had or encountered, they are by far the most loyal, loving, and fun loving dogs. Beagles are HIGHLY energetic, so they're not good for apartments - houses only. Beagles need alot of space to use up all the energy they have even in senior adulthood. Beagles are phenomenal with children, and they need lots of exercise. I used to walk my beagle everyday, and even when she was 12 years old, she could still pull me along for an extra mile.
Beagles tend to live quite long. One of mine lived to 18 years, although they can live as old as 20 (one of my neighbors beagles was 22!). They do tend to get arthritis, and all of my beagles have had issues with tumors as well, however, they're much healthier than other breeds, like golden retrievers or spaniels.
They are notoriously difficult to house train, or obedience train as well. Beagles are very playful and extremely intelligent, but they're so fun loving, they find it hard to follow directions! However, they all are very loyal and loving dogs, honestly, I can't even compare to another breed.
Beagles are also famous for their howling, which they'll do plenty of when humans aren't around. They need lots of attention, but the rewards of having such a carefree yet lovable animal will surely make you enjoy every moment you have with them. I never had an issue with any of my beagles and my cats as well. They tend to be really sociable and acceptable of any other pet in the household. They are usually not aggressive animals either, they tend to bark when they see anything, dogs, cats, people, etc, but they are only really barking so they can get attention. My beagle Candy used to let the birds get a bite of her food before she did, and used to play with them as well.
It's best to get beagles from reputable breeders only - anywhere else might have beagles that are inbred and therefore more prone to medical issues. Beagles from breeders are usually inexpensive, less expensive than dog breeds more highly in demand or toy dogs as well. I've seen them for around $100, sometimes up to $300.
But remember, puppies in general are a great deal of work, and a beagle puppy will be especially. However, if you ask any beagle owner, beagles are truly one of the best breeds you can buy - they live long, are a very healthy breed, and one of the most lovable dogs you will find. They never cease to find amazement in anything, and never stop sniffing out something new.
