I would like to try Proactive also. For now I wash my face and then I use peroxide on a cottonball to apply to my face where the blackheads and pimples are. It seems to be working well after 4 days. My pores are also shrinking finally. If you start to dry out, use a light moisturizer. I use the peroxide twice a day unless I get too dry, then it's once per day.

Believe it or not, the only thing that worked for me was birth control. I used Ortho-tricycline. I have had really bad acne since I was 11 (i'm now 28). I used to get large, ugly awful pimples and small ones all over my face, neck, back and upper arms. For years, I suffered with this and I tried tetracycline, accutane, retin-A, and proactive solution--none of these things worked and you know why, because my acne is the result of a hormonal imbalance--and not the other common causes. So, I would suggest first finding out what is causing your acne and then treating it based on the source of your problem. For some, its hormones and for others it is hereditary and still others, their diet. Once I started the birth control pills, almost immediately, my skin cleared up and I didn't have one single pimple the entire time, even when I was on my period. I couldn't believe it. I took the pills just for that purpose too, for about two years. Once I stopped, my pimples returned. But, if you are too young for that, then you may want to try proactive, it is good for mild acne and works better, I believe, when used in conjunction with another topical acne med such as Retin-A. Moreover, changing your diet (cutting out fried foods and heavy dairy) can help too, as well as exercising.

I like clearasil, it seems to work great, and i found this really cheap stuff at walmart, it is like oxyclean, but it is an acne gel. It comes in a box, it eqaute brand, it says GEL on it. It drys them up really, REALLY quick! I got acne real bad after I had my second baby, this seemed to make it go away, within the first few days of using it! I tried klearaction, proacne, natures cure acne, doctors things, neutrogena, clean and clear, nothing worked for me, and the doctors stuff made my skin so dry it broke out, cause all i had was dead flaky skin! Try the cheap ance gel at Walmart, it costs less than $2.00!

The 2 creams that you say broke you out you didn't use long enopugh=probably said in the dircections that your skin will get worse before it gets better-the creams brought all the acne out of your under layers of skin-brought all the oil to the surface then had you kept using it would have cleared and healed them all up.i recommend you go to a DERMATOLOGIST for there is Retina A which will clear up acne but for approx 1-2weeks will bring all the under surface acne to the surface-for to get rid of it all th pores have to be cleaned of excess oil, bacteria. Retina A not only works on keping skin clear acne, black and white heads-you put on overnigt when your skin cells renew themselves and you'll also have to use sunscreen, but Retina A is only Expt Strivaectin, that makes collagen-keeps your skin from sagging as you get older 2 benefits in 1. You can now go to a drugstore and get WITCHHAZEL-a natural astringent from the Witchhazel Plant that kills bacteria-one of the major causes of acne, from the surface of the skin and controls oil production-another cause. I use every AM after cleaning my face with Dove and Water-dab on Witchhazel and leave it on.In the PM I use Retina -A after cleaned face with Dove and Water-have ben acne free for sev years.Retina A is not covered by Insurance but a very small amt is needed and 1 prcsription lasts me approx 6-7months.Never,ever leave any trace of make-up on your skin overnight for during the day particles you cannot see stick then form bacteria and then you get clogged pores which then work harder then you have bacteria + oil = Acne. If you must use esp liquid make-up and blush use Medicated and very lightly-the non comedic-do not block pores. Good Luck

If you're truly serious here's a sure fire wayto clear acne:
1. Eat a really low fat diet, pretty much no-fat diet -you'll see your skin dry up
2. Go on the pill (if you're female)
3. Use a product with benyzol peroxide e.g. proactiv
4. Use a sulphur mask
5. Don't touch your face with your hands, hair or phone on the chin
6. Exercise and drink lots of water

hello I used to have a acne problem and once in a while I still have a break out and the best thing I have found to work is eiather st ives apricot scrub and phisoderm wash and then clean your face with alcohol and a cotton ball at least twice a day. good luck hope this helps. oh by the way the alcohol burns a little at first but it will dry up the break out.

I agree with loving life. Proactiv works wonders, however since they have P Diddy and Jessica Simpson endorsing their product the price has gone up. Clear Action works just as well at a third of the cost! I got it on sale for 15 bucks Proactiv was 50. And its readily available!

I have used ProActiv and it works wonders, but a little pricey. AVON has a skin care line that is called True Porefection, that is working so far for me. And a lot more reasonably priced.

Pro Active...I know people that have used it. It works It costs but you have to follow the instructions. But if you have real severe acne go to a dermatologist There are creams and pills but please ask the druggist about there side effects If you go that route.
