I certainly don't think anything is wrong with spending time by yourself. Some people need this so they can stay objective about a relationship and also have some time where they can be alone. I wouldn't read too much into it. Initially in a relationship all you want to do is be with that person. I think at this point it is really important to have some time away from your partner.

You are partners, not siamese twins. While it's fun to spend lots of time with your partner, spending ALL your time with them will grate on both your nerves and theirs.

You both need your own space and lives in order to maintain a healthy relationship. If you don't get this regular break then you both will drive eachother crazy and start nitpicking at eachother and bickering.

Plus, spending time apart makes for great conversation and fun stories to tell when you meet up again. If you're together all the time, you run out of new things to talk about :-)

If in fact you are talking about a love relationship, as in both people love the other, then why not? To me, if you love someone you must trust them and if you can't then you can't truly love them either. I am a man who met you as an example, two years ago. I am 35 years of age. I have friends I have known over fifteen of those years and some are female. If you cannot tolerate my being with those friends out of your sight, then you don't trust me and the relationship is doomed to fail. The same goes for a male who no longer wants his 'girl' talking with old friends who are male. Only trust can cement love and distrust will destroy it. If one of the two is actually cheating then the other has already lost them and is better off. Time alone or with old friends is a tonic for everyone.

Everyone needs some me time and some people require more than others. If the partner is involved in an interest the other doesn't share, recharging their emotional batteries, etc then it can be a very positive thing. If it is being used as a day to act single again, then potentially trouble can follow.

If you mean spend time just hanging out with friends, reading or going to the park, yes I think it is crucial for a couple to have time to themselves. We are all individuals and need a little time to affirm that individuality to gain perspective, and not get caught up in the "WE" mentality. If you say we like watching 24 or we love Thai food, you better know that the both of you genuinely do.

YES...Human Beings need time to themselves..Maybe the reason the divorce rate is so high is because Americans just smother themselves with their loved ones...I can not imagine being with my husband 24 hours a day, 7 days a wekk--its too much..When I get married, I will definitely have my own bedroom that will be my own--I dont care how crazy that sounds.

Everybody got their own life styles. At time their partner would get in the way or in the wrong place. Have some body is better than having nobody.

Most everyone needs time to themselves. Anyone who insists that you spend 24/7 with them is a very insecure person.

I think partners should always allow their mates space. It can get stuffy otherwise. Just don't make BIG deal about it and say..."Friday is MY day to spend ALONE!" Rather..."I'll be running errands or stepping out on Friday..." This may avoid tension, rejection or other ill feelings. In other words...your words must be seasoned.

Yes because everyone need time to themselves it's not healthy to want your partner not to spend time alone with his or her friends are family. Usually alot of couples start to argue alot when they don't get that much needed time alone.
