i was born an atheist (without belief in god(s) as everyone is, taught Catholicism (Christianity with saints), and then born again atheist for 20 years.

believers are born without belief also, but they are taught to believe in one form or another, usually starting at early childhood.

it's hard to shake the effects of brainwashing when it starts so young. some, like myself, are lucky to break free of the superstition.

It's funny because as a child I never thought about God. Then I did a lot of thinking about God for a few years as an adult. Then finally I decided I believe God is a force in the Universe as opposed to a person. This might have something to do with my childhood spent in Miami, FL. Nature is God there.

I was an Atheist in my mid 20's. I saw a miracle answer to prayer on Christmas eve 1975 at the bedside of a person who had died. I became a believer. 2 years later while visiting a monastery, I felt the presents of God and was caught up in a type of out of body experience. He is real. It is true that Jesus comes looking for the one lost sheep. And He found me. Praise the Lord!

I started believing in God after I left the Catholic faith. They have too many rules that seem just asinine (no offence to any catholic in the house it's just not my religion.) Anyways I believed in him when i realized the strength of my situation im now 18 years old and my father has Frontal lobe dimentia a deterioration of the brain. He works minimaly and no one likes him. My mom is saddled with 3 children a husband to take care of and shes diabetic. She aslso has carpal tunel and surgery on her shoulders. On top of this she deals with everyones problems even those outside of our family. She works full time and nothing more at the post office my dad doesn't pitch in for anyhting and we own a 800,000 dollar home 3 cars plasma large television and decent clothes. How it works i have no idea. That's when i started believing in God!

After spending 4 years in the USAF getting out and sensing an emptiness in my being that any form of accomplishment would not fill. I saw this sign out in front of the Church that said FOR GOD SO LOVED and the rest of the verse you know. That was a new concept for me to know and I followed up on the concept and found Christ at the end of that promise. That night I knelt down by my bedside and asked Jesus Christ into my life. I was followed up by two Wheaton College students that help solidify my faith by sharing verses and having ardent discussions with me. It has been a life of simple faith and ups and downs in life. With fathering two children with disabilities that required wheelchairs, life has been good.
Life is not fair but Christ is what makes it good. My life verse has been Proverbs 3:5,6

I don't believe in god as a puppeteer in the sky. I believe that God is the screen that reality is projected on.

God is in you... at the center of your own being. Look closely and you will see Him there.

God is reality ... what really is, and can't be changed.

Even physics is only our current understanding of Gods science.

Thanks for the Q,
Jonnie

I started very young probably 4 or 5 years old. I was told in church that GOD was GOD so I believed. I left for almost three decades and made my way back to belief.

May GOD richly bless you.

I was very young. I would say prayers at 2 years old. I am guess 3 years old. He was always there. It's not like just one day I started believing in him.

All I remember from a very small child on up is Jesus. My parents have taken me to church all my childhood days. But I came to know God on a personal level for myself as a young adult and have never turned back since. May God Bless
