I'm trying to use my windows movie maker to make a music video. I understand how to add audio music files to my video at the same time but how do i mute the video while my music is playing with the video? I'm basically trying to lipsync to music making my own video. I'm new to this & just starting to understand how things work. When I record video I can't shut off the mic. How can I mute it?

the video is on the top and the audio end is on the bottom. right click the audio and mute it. You may have it set to show timeline. if it is click where it says show timeline and it will change the view then you will see everything. video, transition, audio/music. I think thats your problem. just click show timeline right above all of the movie clips after they are added. Youll figure it out from there.

The easiest way I've found is to add both the video and the audio to the timeline view. Then select the video, go up to 'clip', 'video', then 'mute'.
