Is it because they really think people will believe if they are feel threatened?

what makes some of you so smug?
I believe in Jesus Christ and made Him my Lord and saviour 25 yrs ago.
I just don't think anything is gained by telling people to believe or you'll go to hell.
That's what the inquisition was.
Tell people about Jesus. Show them how perfect scripture is, and let them decide. No one, by threatening me, has ever made me CHANGE MY MIND.

While I'm at it...
STOP TEACHING LIES LIKE THE TRINITY.
STOP TELLING PEOPLE THAT WHEN THEY DIE THEY GO TO HEAVEN/HELL.
When you die, yer dead. At the RESURRECTION, then we will be judged as to eternal life or not.
If we had perverted our OWN religion, maybe people would believe.
ARRRRRRRRRRGH!

No I never intended to be a Christian, as a matter of Fact I hated the idea and loved to drink ,gamble, smoke pot and wake up with woman I never ever meet before ,But the Grace of God shook me one night and I reached out and touched the hem of His Garment and my eyes where opened to the truth of My Lord and savior Jesus Christ, People who are non believers have great blinders on and they really cant help it,

Yes, they have been trespassing, so you can go to the police, but try talking with your neighbors first. Kill them with kindness - tell them you appreciate the friendly familarity they've shown to you, but that for reasons of liability and privacy you don't feel comfortable having people on your property, especially without your knowledge or invitation. Ask them to be more careful about throwing their baseballs/footballs, and you'd prefer that they leave the item in your yard instead of running to get it, and you'll be happy to return the item when you come home. Once you've talked openly and politely with them, you can resort to sneakier methods. Time the sprinklers to go on when they are likely to be entering your property. Have a friend with an intimidating-looking dog lend you the dog for a few weeks. Collect the cigarette buds and dump them through their mail slot or in their mail box. When they fetch a ball, turn it into a game by counting to ten before turning the hose on them. They probably don't mean any harm - it's the sort of thing that wouldn't bother them, so they can't imagine how it would bother anyone else. Try to stay good-natured and humorous about it - you're stuck with them indefinitely, so no sense starting a turf war.

Because without the threat of hell, what reason would people have to join christianity? All of the "rewards" for believing are only real if you believe. Noone knows if there is a heaven or hell. But if you threaten that if they don't believe they will spend all of eternity in fire and brimstone it makes a person fear not believing. Whether you believe through fear or love for your imaginary friend it doesn't matter. There's no fine print in the bible that you have to believe for one reason or another. Just that you believe.

Not at all.I came to Christ when I found that anything I could possibly want to know was in there about life.It was also because I was into archeology and anthropology and wanted to study the Holy land, that's when I discovered all that is written is true. The missing Hell part is a bonus.Discovering how much God loves us despite all the crap we have to endure, was enough for me.
Some people don't know any other way to warn people about Hell, except to threaten(see Jude 22 &23.)

I, myself feel a bit uneasy about this matter. As a Christian, I and other Bible-believing people are concerned about other people's souls and where their destinations will be in the afterlife. So we feel the need to warn them of their eternal condemnation, not threaten them. We care about everyone and we are saddened that a lot of people, millions of people, will go to hell because they rejected Jesus Christ.

Is 'threaten' really a correct choice of words? I have heard that some may have felt threatened because they were in sin and convicted. If someone actually did threaten you, let me be the first to say for the rest of the real Christians, I am sorry. That is not our way. With love and kindness have I drawn them says that Lord. I am sorry for your experience. I did not become a Christian because I thought anything other that my love for God and His love(that I felt He has) for me. One day you too will feel it. May God Bless

You have Christians that are living legalistically because they have guilt in their lives and want to be better than others. Deep down, they would really like to sin and feel it's unfair that they "have" to live holy and others seem to get away with sinning.

They have the right heart, but the wrong actions. They just need prayer to help them see that force was never what Jesus intended to be associated with his gift.

It is probably because many people are hypocrites with a mean streak who choose to belong to a religion only as a means to dominate others.

Who made the threat? God or believers? Hmm the concept of eternal punishment comes from the Bible to begin with not us, we didnt make it up!!! Is Jesus a liar? There is REAL judgment coming and its going to be horrible for unbelievers!!! So are you telling us we're wrong for warning people of the consequences God himself has promised?!?!?!?!?! Woe to the people like you that ignore Gods words!!!
"Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life." -Matthew 25:46
I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life. -John 5:24
