Friday was my birthday. My husband was too busy to go out and get a card but promised to take me out later and let me get something. My 12 year old went to the football game with his friend and didn't even tell me Happy Birthday until I reminded him it was my birthday. My oldest son living on his own didn't even call. I'm having a pity party and feeling sorry for myself. How can I get over it and move on?

Sounds like you are a typical Mother -- the FORGOTTEN ONE -- who is only talked to when you are acting the servant role for these SELFISH individuals who don't care one wit about any special days.

So the best way to deal with this (instead of pity party) --

Take your SELF out for a special treat or time -- AWAY from the selfish ones and do some THING for yourself -- and no one else. Buy yourself a new outfit, go to a concert, take a walk, but CLEARLY Tell them it's your Birthday and YOU need a break from being the HOUSE SLAVE or DRUDGE --

and JUST enjoy the time to your SELF at this point. The young one who moved out is in the SELFISH ME FIRST stage of life right now -- and won't remember you at this point in time. The Husband is taking you for granted. The 12 yr old is wrapped up in school activities and peer pressure -- and MOM doesn't make the cut with any of the three.

Next year, start reminding them ahead of time. Tell them that it's important they they acknowledge the day and that the day only has meaning if the people you love share it with you. Plan the day ahead of time and say, this day is my birthday, and we are going to dinner and a movie as a family. If they don't respond in a way that is positive, I'd start forgetting their special days - and see how they react. I bet they'd be pretty upset if mom suddenly wasn't taking care of all their needs. Realize that they are taking you for granted and you are letting them - and being passive about the problem will not help the situation. In fact, if you don't do anything, they will do the same thing next year. Speak up! Next year, if they don't make an effort - go out with your friends, let loose and have fun without them!

Pick a day and make a special day out of it. There is no rule that says that you can't get dressed up, go to a movie, take your self to a nice dinner and buy yourself flowers on the way home. Maybe a piece of jewlery with a heart on it to remind yourself that you are loved but sometimes, life gets in the way... Hopefully your family shows you that they love you other times in other ways....

Damn, you need to go ...get yourself a new attitude...a snappy new outfit, get your nails, and hair done...get with a best friend or friends....get a tattoo...see some male exotic dancers, go listen to some jazz or whatever music you like live, go see some amateur comedy....live your life for you...everyday is your birthday....spoil yourself whenever get a chance...that sorry excuse for a man you got...should be ashamed of himself...he could have bought you a cake or some flowers...even some perfume ...whatever...take you out to dinner at least and top it off by giving you some oral pleasure....you poor soul...bring your sexy back and take no prisoners...maybe then that man will stand up and take notice before he's replaced.

I understand that people have busy lives. But you totally need to slap all three of them up side the head. You are the mom-- you are the one who holds everything together. YOU are the one who remembers their B-days and makes them special. They could not even bother to even say happy b-day. If i were you id be pissed off completely.
How would they feel if you forgot their b-days???
Get your hubby to take you out and by something really good for you.
Be pissed off for a while-- you deserve that. Then let it go.

By the Way: HAPPY BIRTHDAY
"happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear friend, happy birthday to you..... and many more:
:-)

Take a hot bath and relax.

Then make sarcastic jokes at every chance you can. For example:

You KNOOOOW, Friday was my birthday. Oh wait, it's not like you care, because your an inconsiderate JERK! Oh, was that too harsh? Because HAHA, YOUR OBVIOUSLY DON'T CARE IF YOUR HARSH TO ME, HAHA ON MY OWN F*CKIN BIRTHDAY!!!! So shove it up your crack! Then come back and talk to me about being harsh! You poopcrack!

Annoy them as much as possible and NEXT time they'll remember your birthday!! HAHA!!

Happy Belated...... However, I realized a long time ago that Birthdays mean very little for adults. I guess it is just something that we have to accept. Don't pity yourself. As long as you know that your husband and your son love you, then you don't need extra validation on any one particular day. Good Luck!!!

Girl... welcome to the club. Just don't let it get you down. It's ok to be pissed for a while, but why don't you just go to the ATM ... take out some money & buy yourself something really nice :) My birthday this year was about what you said. Then... guess what ... my anniversary pretty much sucked too... I feel your pain... go fix it with a great outfit or a day at the spa... but be sure it comes out of your husbands money :)
