To ensure that all the necessary steps are taken for one with a food allergy that is eating in a restaurant, you should notify not only your server of your allergy, but also the manager. The manager can then in turn notify the chef, making sure that all the ingredients that are being used are safe and all the utensils and preparation surfaces are kept separate from your specific allergen(s). You should probably call in advance so that they are aware of what measures need to be taken and they can accommodate you.
Can you sue a restaurant if you end up having a reaction after you've notified them of your allergy? Sure. I believe it was back in February that a family sued McDonald's after their daughter, who had a gluten intolerance, had eaten french fries they had believed were gluten-free. And if I remember right, McDonald's had just revised their ingredient list prior to the incident, stating that wheat and dairy products were used to add flavor to their fries.

I am seriously allergic to Parmesan, Romano, and Asaigo cheese. If it is even the air i start to sneeze. If i eat it i have to go to ER. If i eat enough of it I will go into apoplectic shock. Though I have time to get to the hospital. I like Italian food and have been to Italy. When I go out, I stress to the waiter the chief and everybody that it is very important. I make sure the chief knows at all times. Though I am not sure if you can sue a restaurant. If the restaurant stressed that the food was safe for you eat and you had a reaction, then yes it might be possible to sue them. Good luck in the future and I hope you have no reactions

Well, if you're dead, not much sense in suing them, right?! Moral of the story is, don't take chances!
My experience is that you cannot trust the server to understand all about allergies or to communicate that forcefully to the kitchen staff. The most effective thing is to speak with the manager, and you must tell them that you could die. That is a big responsibility to put on someone, and at least one restaurant manager has told me he did not want the responsibility to make sure the food had no contamination. This wasn't happy for me, but it's best for him to be honest and for me to know ahead of time. On other occasions, the chef has come out to ask what we need and discuss what he can make special for us, that's a very special feeling and wins our undying loyalty to those restaurants.

i also have a nut allergy and the best i can do is to ask about my allergy and if certain things have nuts in. when i have an allergic reaction i go into anaphylaptic shock, my lips swell up, my eyes start watering, my throat closes up and i can't breathe, i start being sick, pass out and if i don't get the right medication in time i could die. with restaurants, no restaurant can garauntee whether a food has no nuts, as there are nut dishes all over the premises, so as long as they say that they can't garauntee the food is nut free then you can't sue them if there are nuts in the food. ♥b♥

Honestly I have no idea what I'm allergic to. Throughout my existence, I've damaged out in hives approximately 7 instances & I certainly not learned the reason. The medical professionals proven my blood and mentioned cat and puppies, however I located cats and puppies not to be a main issue in any respect. I wish I will uncover out sooner or later...

If you tell the waiter that you are allergic to something and that you would like for the item to not be in your meal, they have to oblige. If they ignore you and you have a reaction you can sue.

Its better you cure your allergic problem than asking other people to cater to your problem.
My husband and son have this allergic to nuts problem for long2 time. The best thing is, nuts are their favourite. But recently, they have taken Liquid Zeolite and both enjoy their favourite once again.
You can take Liquid Zeolite and it does marvellous. If you want to know more, you can email me at mai_fol@yahoo.com.sg, because I don't mean to advertise here.
