You could do 10,000 per day, every day, for a month and unless you raise your heart rate high enough, for a long enough period to burn the fat around your belly, it's not going to be flat or defined.
Everyone, repeat everyone, has a six-pack. It's just covered by abdominal fat. Abdominal exercises, particularly ones using some form of resistance, will increase the definition and separation of the stomach muscles. However, if you never did a single sit-up, crunch, or whatever you would still have a six-pack stomach as long as you were able to get rid of the fat surrounding your belly through diet and exercise.
In general (genetics and age will determine the exact ratio for each person), your flat belly is determined 80% by what you eat and 20% by how well and how often you work out.

Sorry, but no number of sit-ups or crunches is going to get you that magic stomach you're looking for. Exercises such as sit-ups work the muscles but do nothing for the fat on top of them.
If you want a firmer stomach I would suggest that you start a running program to start burning those calories being stored in your gut. In addition I would recommend adjusting your diet if you're consuming unhealthy/fatty foods.
Talk to a nutritionalist if you want a customized routine for your needs you won't be able to find on the internet.

I have been doin crunches and they are more effectiv to me.I hurt my back one time doin sit ups and I went and bought a ball and now I do crunches on them, just as effective and you don't have to struggle with them.I have bben doin good for a month now and even though the scale hasn't been that nice I have been seeing results already and it feels good.I started out the first time doing like 10-20 and then 50 and so on.I only do about 100 a day and I usally split it up during the day too cause it makes it easier.at least I'm doing them though thats what counts right :) anywho obviously they work if I'm seeing the results.good luck*buy a ball!*

none what you are trying to do is called spot reduceing, and it is impossible to do .If you gain weight in the stomach area then that will be the last place it will leave You can make your stomach firm by doing situps but if you have a layer of fat over it then your stomach will never get flat
The best way i can explain is if you look at super heavy weight boxer they have amazing abs and they do situps in the 100's of thosands but you will never know because alot of them have a layer of fat over it .George Foreman is a perfect example
The only way to get a flat stomach is watching your diet .You need to lose 3500 calories to lose a pound of fat.But you cant take in too few calories or else your body will go in shock and it will go into survivor mode and that is the last thing you want

Situps and/or crunches can NOT reduce your stomach fat. They only strengthen your ab muscles. The only ways to reduce your stomach fat is through a proper diet (lower your daily calorie intake) and excerise (cardio). You cant isolate a region of fat, only lose fat as a whole of your body.

sit-ups are VERY bad for your back, I would highly suggest using crunches instead. Crunches are like partial sit-ups, you stare straight up, lift your back a little off the floor for a few seconds then go back down, and repeat.

it will take more than situps to get rid of excess belly fat you need to cut out soda and sweets and increase your cardio to about 40 min a day and then also do and intensive ab workout but honestly you usually dont see results for atleast 6 weeks

Situps and crunches do not help to get rid of stomach fat--they only stregthen your muscles. To get rid of fat you need to burn it doing cardio or aerobic exercises.
