When I was that age, my school would go on volunteering missions all the time. I went to an inner-city school and read to 4 and 5 yr. olds, served food at a soup kitchen, cleaned a lake of these plants that were over populating the water, did art projects with the elderly, made cards for shut-ins, hung out with mentally retarded (that one may be a little scary depending on your child).

When I was around that age, I was a candystriper in a hospital. I was able to do different things to help out, like give out magazines, newspapers and toothpaste, etc etc from a cart to people in their rooms on each floor of the hospital, and was able to work in the coffee shop making milkshakes, coffee and helping out. It was actually alot of fun.
You could probably volunteer at your local animal shelter and help them walk the dogs or just spend time playing with the dogs/cats, etc.
And the animals would love that!
Good luck

When I was 12 years old I volunteered to work in a Veteran's Hospital. I pushed wheelchairs, ran errands and operated a movie projector. It was very, very rewarding.

The only thing I can think of right now is working in the library, but it's pretty boring haha sorry. You can volunteer everywhere almost, unless you have to be 14 and older.

or go to volunteermatch.org

Good luck!
