My Windows XP OS has SP1 but the computer will not allow SP2 to be installed.

You have to have a valid registration key for Windows XP Pro., or Home. If your platform is not valid, Microsoft WGA (Windows genuine advangate), will scan your system and record your hardware an IP address. If the key is not valid, you will not be able to download or update anything from Microsoft. If you have a valid key you should contact Microsoft with proof that you key is valid. And they will correct the problem.

Here is the link, to download IE7 newest version. Will not work without SP2.

Should your platform be stolen, then you should purchase a very small item from an OEM dealer and they will sell you Windows XP Pro. for about $100..00

First try a "repair" using the XP CD, to replace the missing or corrupt file.

If that doesn't work you can "reinstall" XP and then "restore" from your last FULL backup.
