I personally use both of these softwares:- spybot search and destroy from www.safer-networking.org it is pretty easy to use just download it, install it and dont forget to update it before you run it. It gives you a list of the malware and adware as well as cookies or keystroke loggers on you machine and you can chose what to or not to delete.
the second one is hijackthis from www.merijn.org it is a brutal way of taking of adware and you kinda have to be an advanced user to use it because a wrong move and you can cripple a critical part of your machine so use it with discretion and as a last alternative.
There is also an adware removal software from lavasoft software called Ad-Aware SE Personal it is free but the real time monitoring is disabled in the free version so you would have to run it manually now and then. Keynote - doesnt get along well with the other two mentioned above but does work effectively too.

Try (http://www.filehippo.com/software/antispyware/). The website lists many free antispyware/ anti adware software programs. Good choices include: Spybot Search & Destroy, Lavasoft's Ad Aware SE Personal edition, Microsoft's Windows Defender and AVG Antispyware. Windows Defender requires WGA validation. AVG Antispyware comes with a 30 day free trial period. After the trial period, the real time protection is disabled but everything else works fine. Unlike antivirus software, you can install more than one antispyware programs as long as you only scan one at a time.
You will need instructions on how to use these programs:
1."How to effectively remove Malware using Ad-Aware SE Personal"
2. "How to effectively remove Malware using Spybot Search & Destroy" (http://www.malwarehelp.org/how-to-effectively-remove-malware-spybot1.html)

I used a combination of two different programs.
Adaware, like everyone else said, is pretty good.

But I found that Spybot - Search and Destroy finds a lot more spyware, and also immunizes your systerm (don't know if this actually does anything).
