Several. I teach part of a pathobiology course at a large New England university, and in addition to myself, I personally know four other born again Christian professors on the faculty, all in biological science-related departments - pathobiology, neurology, and oncology. It isn't unusual. I'm sure there are others as well, whose religious affiliations are unknown to me.

I know at this time 26. Some no doubt I have forgotten. There are some universities where nearly all are evangelical. Sounds like maybe you think born again means stupid, or that you as a born again think smart people are too liberal. Either way if true you are wrong. One does not have to uneducated and course to be born again, which by the way is a phrase used in it's context has nothing to do with receiving the comforter here in the age of grace. Jesus was talking to a Jewish priest working at the Temple, and it was before the Comforter became acvailable or was sent.

Without actually polling the profs I work with, I can only name three. I suspect there are more, "in the closet," so to speak. Certainly religious devotion is alive and well in the academy, even if it's not of the "born-again" stripe. (I can count a dozen or so overt Catholics in my department.)

There aren't many, except at seminaries. Goes to show you that you can be too smart for your own good.
