I adopted mine last year from a shelter in Kansas City The cost was $200.00. There are some in the shelter where I live now that are a lot cheaper. Wayside Waifs charged higher if it was a dog that would easily be adopted. Here where I live, the cost is 75-100 doctors whether it's pure breed or not. If they are in the dog pound, they are cheaper and after 5 days they put them to sleep.

Visit your local shelter as they always have chis for adoption. Re-homing adoption fees range anywhere from $25-80 depending on the rescue and if the dog is altered yet.

If you go to your local (R)SPCA, they usually have flat prices - with no special prices for particular breeds.
If you buy a PUPPY it should cost around $200-$250 from a rescue shelter.
If you buy an adult dog, it should cost around $95-$180, depending on where you live.
My local RSPCA doesn't charge you for what breed you pick - they just have flat prices so I am guessing that's what most (R)SPCA's do.
Good choice on adopting a dog too =)

That would depend on what state you live in, what sex you want, what size when grown and if reg. I live in TN and dogs sell pretty reasonable here. In looking for a Chihuahua make sure it doesn't have the small hole in the top of its scalp, if it doesn't close it can cause death.
