I had that happen to my cat years ago.Their nest is probably somewhere nearby and if you can't find it yourself call in a professional that way once you are able to locate where the nest is,maybe you can find a way to prevent them from using that area again.(and that way your cat's self esteem won't be harmed anymore-lol)

Hi, Your birds sound like they are Starlings. They are very protective of their nests and they are looking at your cat as a threat. The Starlings here do the same thing to my yellow lab. It is hysterical to watch as the dog is totally unaware of the constant scolding and dive bombing of the birds. Your poor cat is small and the birds are probably more aggressive towards him. I think it will only be a problem while the birds have their nests, thank goodness it doesn't last all year round. Maybe you should keep the cat inside with you during the nesting season and when you do put the cat out, go with him. The birds are not as aggressive when a human is close. They will still scold, but they won't dive bomb and peck at the cat.

The reason your cat and my cat are getting airially bombarded is springtime is nesting time for birds. Here the mocking birds are continually diving on cats especially if the eggs have hatched. The birds are territorial and they are just trying to get the cats away from there nesting sites. My cat just ignores them even though they sometimes peck at him. Sometimes it looks kind of comical. Don't worry about it. It's only nature happening.

Most animals are protective over their nest and young, and birds will usually come back year after year to lay eggs. They are just doing what comes natural and your poor kitty is in their territory.Doesn't really matter who was there first. But to get rid of them, before it is good spring ,go in your yard and check out all the nooks and crannies, destroy any old nest and be on the look out for any new ones being built and get rid of them too.You must do this before they lay eggs or you will be in the same boat with your cat.If U accomplish this - They will get the message and move on,whalaa U have your yard back.----

Well, first of all would be to not let your cat out, but if that is not much of an option you could see about calling a local pest company to see if they could help you get rid of the birds or at least make your yard less appealing to them. Normally having a bat would make it less appealing, but in your case maybe not. Perhaps if you could attract a raptor that might make them leave, but that might not be a real good idea for the cat, either! :-)

.The birds are protecting their territory and their eggs and babies against a predator (your cat). Sorry, nature is more important than your cat...who should be indoors anyway. You can't alter nature because you are an irresponsible pet owner . What, are you going to go out and kill every bird on earth?? Also, you are breaking the law, as it is illegal to harass birds which your cat is doing. Either don't let your cat outside or deal with the birds.

Your cat may have gotten to one of the birds, or got into there nest. A bunch of blue jays did the same to my cat. Leave him inside for a while, they will eventually forget. LOL

birds do that here as well because the birds know that the cats kill them
so its a way they protect themselves & warn other birds a killer is around!!
keep the cat in doors always when you can't watch that it wont kill
any wild life
its just about law to do that now anyway
they have outside runs you can buy for cats
I love cats but i love wildlife as well

It sounds like they might be crows (did you know that a group of crows is called a "murder"?).
He probably attack or killed one (at least one) of them and they're gathering as a group, either to watch his movements or in preparation to attack him. When you see them gathering, run out with your arms spread wide and waving and growl/hiss at them with the sound coming from the back of your throat. Eventually they should stop after you do this a few times.
