Make sure you have a comfortable area to study where disruptions will be minimal. Have all your work materials ready. Plan your work and work your plan (sorry...but the old adages worked for me when I had to study and complete 2 grad degrees) and most of all...

Just Start to Study. The sooner you start the sooner...you know the rest.

get out a notebook and start skimming for information.

Basically all you do is read the first sentence of each paragraph. Is that section something you are pretty confident that you know already?
If it is skip that paragraph.

Focus on the paragraphs that contain highlighted or bold words and definitions. Read over that paragraph and on a note book write down the vocabulary word and a sentence or two about it and if there's something in that paragraph that is important like a process or alternative theory - write in your own words what the theory or process is.

Study it this way and you'll be done pretty quickly. If you aren't sure you got all the important information down - check the questions at the end of the unit, can you answer them? If not , be sure to fiind the answers and write them down in your notes.

Now you can put the book away and just read over your notes as your study guide.

I remember those college days when I had to syudy, study, study!!!!! What helped me was putting some music on and tackling the studying. Once I got into it it didn't bother me at all! Just take little bites and before you know it you will be done!!
