The old saying, you can't teach an old dog new tricks, is bull. I had a Doberman that was twelve years old and was tought how to crawl to me. So no your doberman is not to old to go to obedience trainning.
I have a female Doberman now and If you are in the Missouri area I'm looking for a male Dob to breed her with.

No it's not too late, but it will take more time than usual, but if ur firm and mean wht u say when u give certain commands, (without giving in), then he'll learn. All the best
