Hedonism:pursue pleasure, avoid pain.

See definitions of "epicure" and "hedonist" which are two terms for people who seek a lifestyle of pleasure in excess.

Some people's beliefs about capitalism are focused on amassing as much wealth and power as possible, and investing that in creating more to achieve maximum success. So that philosophy can be taken to excess.

Some interpretations of faith in Christ as promising abundant life and blessings have been used to justify great riches and wealth as a sign of reward; while other interpretations frown on or criticize this as hypocritical or too materialistic.

My understanding of both Buddhism and Christianity is to value spiritual wealth, health and wisdom first, and trust in the physical world to follow in harmony; and not to covet or harbor selfish desires which merely cause human misery where the soul can no longer enjoy the gifts that life has to offer. So by letting go of one's life, one actually finds it; and by clinging too much to material or physical control, one loses one's life and soul.

There is nothing wrong with enjoying life to the fullest. But just make sure there is balance and not unnatural addiction, obsession or unhealthy dependence on material resources for one's happiness which is better derived from spiritual peace and satisfaction independent of our circumstances in life.

Satanism...and i do not mean that in a bad way.
modern satanists simply live life on their own terms and if that happens to be to excess noone cares as long as you are not harming others with your lifestyle.
