I thought that the only method of boosting immunity is by being exposed to the anitgen itself. Then why do many people (especially seniors) say that vegetables and fruits build immunity ,....especillay vitamin C?

Vitamin C boost the immune system because it is known to fight viral infections and toxins. For exemple, vitamin C deficiency can lead to scurvy and seriously compromise the immune system.

Citrus fruits (orange, lemon, grapefruit, lime), tomatoes, and potatoes are good common sources of vitamin C. Other foods that are good sources of vitamin C include papaya, broccoli, brussels sprouts, black currants, strawberries, cauliflower, spinach, cantaloupe, kiwifruit, cranberries and red peppers.
