The vet once told me that cat litter, to dogs, is just doggie caviar... almost a delicasy to them.

We had to elevate our cat box high to get it out of the dogs reach, as well as the kitty food.

Very common behavior for a dog. Yes, to us it is disgusting, but to a dog it is a treat. The cat poop is nice and smelly and actually does still have some nutrition left in it. Your best bet is to get a covered litter box, or put it up out of the dogs reach.

Dogs (including mine) are attracted to cat poo. There is a lot of protein in it that is what I am told draws them to it. Where do you keep the litterbox? In the bathroom? Put a baby gate across the bathroom door the cat can jump over it to get to the litterbox but the dog can't get to the litterbox. When the dog is unable to eat from the litterbox she will start eating her own food.

It`s normal for a dog to eat cat poop. But it is never normal for you to allow your dog to eat cat poop. The dog smells the food in the cat poop.I had to teach my dog to stay out of the cat litter. He will try once in a great while to get some but is stopped.

I wouldn't let my dog do that because the cat can have a sickness or a disease and that would affect the poo but otherwise its okay if the cat is healthy.

At least you don't have to change the litter box! Just don't let him lick you afterwards.

My dog eat it to, I think they think its almond rocca. Put the liter box somewhere else, or put a gate around it.
