I have found a something that my daughter IS scared of (contrary to another question I had about my daughter I though was fearless). But the problem is she WANTS to play with it!!

Okay, it is that Giggle Remote thing they had out a few years ago I bought it on clearence at Wal-Mart. Anyways, she was like 11 months old and was scared then so we packed it up and forgot about it. I just found it and she went NUTS (in a GOOD way) and she wanted to play with it, but as soon as it started moving she FREAKED out and started crying and hiding behind me, just like the last time it was out nearly a year ago.

Now this time is more brave, as long as the wheels are not going she will TOUCH it and even carry it to me, but as soon as it moves she starts getting upset. What do I do? She wants to play with it but she is scared of it??

LOL! I guess she isn't fearless after all!

Thanks,
Belinda

I am not throwing away a perfectly good toy, but the other suggestions so far are great. Yet she gets mad with no batteries because it won't giggle, she wants it to giggle but not move.

If she wants to play with it, then let her. She will stop being afraid of it. Good luck.

Both my girls have a fear of animated things like that. I have to show them how it works to get them to calm down.

I took the battery case off the back of a similar toy and showed her how the wire hooked up to the battery and how the wire went into the toy and made it work. I pulled the battery off and we worked the controls, then put the battery back in, left the battery cover off and turned it back on. They were much more calm when they figured out it was a machine.

I would bet a dollar it is almost like a game to her now. She might be a little freaked by it, but is probably getting a charge out of watching YOU when she gets upset at it. Id let her have it. Maybe explain to her that it is like the family car-when it is on- the wheels move (or something like that)

Just leave it where she can play with it when SHE wants to. Sounds to me as if she is remembering when it scared her the first time, which was probably when she was too young.

BELINDA YOU HAD THE RIGHT IDEA BY PUTTING THE TOY AWAY. I HAVE A 3 YEAR OLD AND SHE WOULD ALWAYS GET SCARED OF TOYS THAT VIBRATED, BUT SHE GREW OUT OF IT. SHE DID WHAT YOUR LITTLE GIRLS IS DOING THEY TEACH THEMSELVES NOT TO BE SCARED.

Mabye she doesnt normally see moving toys and you should allow her to play and interact with more moving things so she can get used to it.

easy option - remove the batterys until she gets used to it, when she is finally used to it not moving, return the batterys and play with it with her, so that she knows its nothing to be scared of, she will then in turn get slowly used to it.
