Seat Belts also came from the racing world along with disc brakes on automobiles.

racing improves the breed , there have been numerous examples throughout history where the car with better brakes or steering won over its more power full rivals, improvements? , seat belts, disc brakes , suspension research ,tire improvements are among the few i can list off the top of my head .
