My dog likes eating acorns and I think it's making them sick what should I do??

One morning I took my dog out to go to the bathroom and he had been outside in his 10 by 10 pen all day the day before to exersice when I took him out he through up acorns if you know what I mean.Can yall help??
p.s. he's thrown up red stuff to!!

some types of acorns may be poisonous to the dog so i would recommend getting him to the vet asap!

Oh my I would suggest a trip to the vets ASAP. Acorns can cause intestinal obstructions in dogs which can result in death. Clean up the acorns in the yard to keep your dog from eating them, but after that trip to the vet!

Yes, as a prior pet sitter, this is what I found out.

Dogs especially puppy's loved to eat pine cones, I guess it's just a dogs thing out in the country and acorns also.

Try giving your dog the best bones to chew on. If he doesn't like the pet stores ones, get some from your grocery store and cook them. Beef bones are best.

One dog I knew, had to have surgery because it tore up his insides chewing on pine cones.

Get him into the vet's asap.

If he is throwing up red stuff that is blood. The acorn shells may have injured his stomach and intestines or caused a blockage. He needs to go to the vet.

acorns are very bad for dogs, i think its the tannin in the acorns that burns their stomach up. we almost had a dog die from eating acorns years ago. We took her to vet and it took days for her to recover.
