I do have personal experience there, but I won't share it on this, I do have a woman at my church who is a foster parent, and I am really good friends with a few others. The woman at church has been waiting for along time and finally got 3 who were all siblings. Another lady waited a long time and finally got 1 little boy who was really young. Another couple got 2 siblings just a few months after they were approved. I think it depends on where you live, and what company you go through. I have a few more friends who adopted from people they had known personally and they asked if they would take their baby for whatever reasons, (one waws 15 and pregnant, the other was a drug addict). Again, it probably depends on where you're looking to adopt or foster...

My friends registered with Social Services, and looked into local adoptions. They were being considered for a family of four children for MONTHS, and it fell through. They were very sad. Then, out of the blue, Soc. Services called them and they placed a child with them the next day.

The mother did eventually challenge the adoption, so it took a little more than a year to make it final. But they have had him the whole time, since the first day they contacted them.

I think it depends on the child's situation. At least, that's their experience.

I have a mutual friend through my sister that has two adopted children. She and her husband went through Catholic Charities (domestic adoptions), after hearing many bad stories about county adoptions. They had to go through an intensive screening process and attend adoption classes that included information about adoption and parenting classes. Then, they created a family album for the birth mothers to choose from and had to wait for the phone call. They waited for about six months and adopted a healthy little girl. They attended the birth along with her entire birth family (including an older half-sister that was adopted by the maternal grandmother).

Fifteen months later, they were considering asking the birth mom to be a surrogate, when they got another surprising call. They were asked to adopt their daughter's 5 month old half-brother, whom the birth mother had 10 months after their daughter was born. Now, four years later, they are expecting their first biological child.

My nephew and his wife adopted a little boy from Russia. Gosh, I think the whole process took almost two years. Yes. They flew to Russia to see the orphanage and to see which child they were going to adopt. Then they had to come back home and wait. Then they had to go back and get Anton. It cost them over $40,000.

I think that adopting a child is the best thing you could do in life if you love kids. I was adopted and also had to adopt out one child not at my choice. Adopted kids are the greatest gifts God made. The process depends where you get the kids. However think about this in other countries you could find many problems. Plus, you should always help our kids here in USA first. Can you currently or would you for sure in the future be able to help that child to learn of thiers parents or at least other siblings in other countries or states? If not consider doing it locally. My biological mom lives in a state across country. I did say much even though I knew I was adopted till i was older around my teens and I became really curious about my mom. I ran up a phone bill and studied computer records, and paid postage to send off letters to Social Security to find her even though my adopted mom had her basic location and knew alot about her since I was adopted with family. However my parent and the familes went separate ways supposely for my good. Always let them know you love them and also them are chosen through adoption. Heres a reason. if you don't and they grow up and medical things or dna don't match up they will not trust you. An adopted sister of mine was that way when her step dad stole them from my adopted mom and she went for heart surgery and found out. She was enraged that her dad lied to her. But, please think about eveything before adopting. Expect that thier may be problems with kids adopted in many ways. Remeber you shouldn't adopt if you think you can try it and exchange them! They are then yours and you must love them as yours. Thy are gods gift to you! I think of the baby I adopted out everyday and its hurts but I know that God had plans for her in life and maybe his were better then mine. She was born for another mom as a gift. I can live with that!!!! questions write me!
