Bible does not condone followers of Christ to participate in war. It also does not prohibit followers of Christ to participate in war.
Christians have developed the just war doctrine to determine if followers of Christ should participate in war.
The “just war” doctrine requires rigorous consideration to determine if defense by military force is legitimate.
Offensive war is never justified.
All the following considerations must be true to justify war:
1. The damage inflicted by the aggressor on the nation or community of nations must be lasting, grave, and certain;
2. All other means of putting an end to it must have been shown to be impractical or ineffective;
3. There must be serious prospects of success;
4. The use of arms must not produce evils and disorders graver than the evil to be eliminated.
Using the Iraq war as an example:
It has been argued the pre-war Iraq:
1. Was not inflicting lasting, grave and certain damage to the United States;
2. Could have been influenced by diplomatic and international sanctions.
It is argued now that:
3. There is not a serious prospect of success;
4. The use of arms has produced evils and disorders greater than the evil eliminated.
The "new" philosophy of the United States to launch wars to get them before they get us can even be argued as an offensive war which would not be justified.
With love in Christ.

Great question buddy. And I've got a great answer.
Christ is a supporter of the law of the land. He exemplifies this when he is aked if he pays tribute, or taxes. He tells Peter to go and fish. The first fish Peter catches has a piece of money in its mouth. This he told Peter was to be used as his tribute.
Now, what we do know is that ever since the beginning of time man has fought with his brother, father, and neighbor. God has even had his apostles/prophets fight in battles against the philistines, egyptians, the Isrealites, etc. We have the right to defend ourselves, our freedoms, and our families from anyone that would try to take anything from us.
Best example I can think of today, is terrorism.

EDIT:
Alright all you pacifist atheists..what EXACTLY do you suggest? Oh, yeah, let's give the hitlers, sadaams, and bin laden's TIME OUTS? We're accused of using circular LOGIC? At least theres some logic to our reasoning! I suppose you are the same ones who would urinate on the flag? Why don't we just turn the country over to the enemy....would that make you happy? Bunch of LOONS is what u are! NO LOGIC at all! Nobody likes to fight but for heaven's sake..when you have to, DO IT!

Goodness only knows - however true believers, ie those who are spiritual rather than religious, respect all life!
they also respect individuality and free will (Gods divine law of creation) and as such respect another persons differences

Thou shall ram thy cruise missles up your *** so far-est...
LOOKIN2cjc: I'm an atheist and I'm not a pacifist, I agree 'things' need to be taken care of, but before we jump in a war let's get some proof(WMD's). So far, I haven't seen much proof to be over there, although Sadaam did need to be accountable for his genocide parties and such.

In this passage here it says that Christians should be subject to the government and that the government is used by God.
Romans 13:1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. 2 Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. 3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: 4 For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil. 5 Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake. 6 For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God's ministers, attending continually upon this very thing. 7 Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.

I don't know that that matters. The buybull is full of contradictions, anyways. But, what about 'Thou shalt not kill'?
Of course, like everything else they don't like, the Christians will find a circular-logic based way around it, hehehe....
