Today, I ate one of those healthy candy bars, made with peanuts, chocolate peanut, and I threw up big time; a few years ago, I ate a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and I threw up. I had always liked peanut butter sandwiches since I was little, but now at 36, I suddenly can't eat peanut butter food anymore. I used to also like eating chocolate candy bars with a flavor of peanuts like Snikers, Baby Ruth, etc, but now, I can't even stand their smell. What do you think causes this? Is it just my stomach or an allergy? I'll appreciate your candid answers as always. Thank you.

One thing that I have learned is that allergies can come in any number of forms. A lot of times asthma stems from food allergies. Acne, migraines, and yes nausea/vomiting can stem from them too. I had a lot of weird symptoms and they all turned out to be food intolerances and allergies. I am also a raw foodist now too, so congrats on that! I would stay away from them for the time being. Also, you should do a gluten free trial as well at some point. I had chronic nausea and vomiting and it turned out to be caused by gluten intolerance. But yea, it could be the only symptom of a food allergy. Stay away from them for now and do a trial in a few weeks when you're all better. Also, you should know, some people have symptoms like headaches and nausea when making the transition to raw. All the toxins that you are cleansing come out and you experience them as they leave your system. So the peanuts could be a coincidence. Or you could've developed a peanut allergy all of the sudden. I've done that. Just last week, I realized that I'm allergic to scotch tape when I got a piece stuck to me and I didn't realize it and it swelled up. It could be a peanut allergy that just popped up.

Since your body is constantly changing, you can grow into and out of allergies. It sounds as if your body is rejecting the peanuts and peanut butter from and onset of allergies. Most likely you can't stand the smell, because of the current situation and that is more psychological. I would make an appointment as soon as possible, you will want to know if it is truly an allergy and if it is, you will need to start really reading food labels. A good portion of the people that are allergic to peanuts have a nice long list of things they can't eat.

Good luck

I'm not sure - I'm not a doctor or a nurse, I'm not even a dietician or even someone who knows anything about health but I would say you vomit because your body can't handle peanuts.
You can still eat them it's just that you will vomit every time you do. If you go on a dinner date try to avoid the satay beef as this might cause an embarrassing moment for you. There is life after peanuts.

You have probably developed a peanut allergy. It's a common allergy. In some people I know their throat swells and they have to be rushed to the emergency room.
