Try gargling with some warm salt water, maybe a tablespoon or two in about half a glass and do it every couple hours. It'll help a bit.

That itchy throat that goes with a cold is generally caused by post-nasal drip (when the mucus drip down the back of your throat instead of through your nose).

Gargling with salt water (1/2 tsp per cup) often helps. Taking an antihistamine with decongestant will also help because it will help stop the post-nasal drip.

If you develop a fever, go see a doctor.

It sounds like allergies. You may want to seek a nose spray, as most likely what is making your throat itchy is your sinuses draining into it. Also gargle with warm salt water...and drink tea and honey.

Go have a throat culture done (if over the counter medications are not helping) you may need something prescribed.....you don't want that sore throat to turn into an ear infection as they go hand in hand....

Good Luck

Take an allergy medication. My favorite is Theraflu cold medication (or the store generic). Even though it's for cold, it still tackles allergy symptoms. It's my "miracle" drug for whenever I'm sick or uncomfortable with just about anything. They have daytime and night time formulas available. Allergies, tis the season!
