Hi SimAlex--how about a suggestion from an Old Dog? (Just kidding.) These two aren't your only choices! Taking what you express as opposites, angry or passive, I wouldn't be either way.
Anger is a waste of time, & passivity is, well, submissive, lacking in initiative. Yet when appropriate a little seasoning of "caustic" works, as well as there are times to be quiet. It so much depends on the situation with these last two. There are no "absolutes," do you think??

If you're quiet and passive, people will walk all over you. At least when you're caustic and angry, you have a change of getting what you want.

I say if you're upset or angry about something, then let that steam escape as long as you don't harm someone in the process.

I say that because if you remain quiet & passive, someone may think they can take advantage of you which will make the anger build even stronger. And any time anger is allowed to build up, so do the chances increase that you're very likely to have an uncontrollable explosion and just -might- even hurt yourself or somone you never wanted to hurt! NEVER allow anger to "build up"!!

Most important though, when you feel angry about something, ask yourself "Am I angry over something I have any control over?" And if so, make the necessary changes to kill the anger. If it's out of your control, then "get over it" and stop letting it bother you. Works for me often!!! :) :))

Quiet and passive will lead to a blow up. I say caustic and angry, because then the person you're angry with will try to fix it.

i would differently go with plan B

you'll expose your strengths for little or nothing and then when you do need to win you'll have already given too much information

u can get a win in the situation just by not playing. that way u can avoid the dangers of loosing the love life at night over some stupid stuff during the day, strange heads games are the out come of the plan A above

Neither, be assertive which is a balance between the two. If you are too angry all of the time you will tend to find yourself in trouble with people caused by your attitude. If you are too passive then you screw yourself anytime you find yourself in an argument or stressful situation.

Caustic and angry doesn't get you anywhere except maybe in jail. There are ways to express your needs without freaking out.

Neither!
Assertiveness is the way to go
You can learn to be calmly and confidently assertive. Here are some guidelines for "talking it out" that I got from a book:

1. describe the problem

2.state how you feel about it

3. explain how you would like the situation to be changed

4. state the probable outcome of these actions (in what specific ways will it be better for them and you and the relationship)

Being passive just causes people to build up their anger and shoot up a post office..So i say if you get angry express it.

quiet but not passive. it is better to be quiet at times but explain your point of view when you need to. the most important is explain it calmly and not raise your voice.
