Maybe I missed something.
A) Since when is submission sissified? Didn't you submit to your parent's authority? Were you a sissy then? How about law enforcement (assuming you're an adult now)? They give you a ticket, you throw it back at them to prove you won't submit?

B) Self-defense may be justified, but to whom is justice served? What did you do to get slapped in the first place?

C) He still has another hand. Plus, the break will heal. That's not prevention, that's instigation.

You have only two choices:

1) Be a slave, and turn the other cheek (the Xtian ethic)
2) Strike back to conquer and set a new ethical code

I am not an Xtian

That would depend on why I was slapped in the first place.

I live my life in a manner so that I never am slapped.

But if I slap you, you're gonna stay slapped, and like it.

It depends on the person's size and reputation. Stay away from people who might slap you.

Interesting question - I guess it depends what sort of lesson you invited into your life to deserve the slap and what sort of karma you wish to create following your response

bless you ;))

Sometimes it takes a bigger person to just walk away.

It doesn't mean you are a sissy, or a wimp or anything like that. Sometimes, it's the right thing to do.

Jesus also warned his disciples to carry a sword to defend themselves! A real physical sword. I have a sword in my house and a gun and I will defend my family!

I believe Jesus gave us references to submission in the context of persecution and dying for the Gospel.
