I agree with Momma Jo. Can you afford to let this pay back go or do you really need the money? If this person is avoiding you my guess is that they don't have the money and maybe feel really awkward about telling you this.
I would leave it alone for a while, give them a chance to get the money together, then try again maybe in 2-4 weeks.
Its awkward lending money to friends and maybe you need to just take this as a lesson. Don't lend out money if its going to leave you too short, otherwise it can ruin friendships over a few dollars. Sometimes you just have to tell people 'sorry, I can't help you.'
But don't show up at their house. Thats an awkward situation for everyone.

Take that person to court. Even verbal contracts hold some weight.Actually, I'm in the same boat and know that if I lend anyone money, I shouldn't expect it back because I won't get it back. Chalk it up to experience.

If it's a big deal, then write the certified letter. If not, then just figure that's what the friendship is worth. But learn a lesson from it. Never loan anything you can't afford to lose.

you might have to go to small claims court and have their wadges garnished, if they are avoiding you than chances are they are not planning on paying you back, people are strange when it comes to that, just not very nice,
how much did you lend this person? if for say you loaned them $20.00 and they have no intention of paying you than it cost you that much to get rid of some one that was not a friend

Send him a certified letter. He will have to sign for it which will be proof that he received it. If he still doesn't pay, take him to small claims court. Make sure you have proof of the loan.

You have the right idea, but make sure that you don't go alone. If someone owes you money, it is the right thing to do to reclaim what is rightfully yours.
