NO WAY! The Big Book Of Alcoholics Anonymous says "Once an Alcoholic Always an Alcoholic" It is like a broken leg we never grow new ones. We can abstain from our addiction Once an AlcoholicAddict has some sobiety they can never get it out of their heads. Recovery ruins a persons using. In Narcotic Anonymous there is this saying "1 is not enough and a 1000 is never enough". Do you think this could be a problem? I would think so. By the way I have been Clean and Sober for 5 yrs, now. Sobriety Birthday is Oct. 26, 2001

No. The key is to abstain from whatever is causing the addiction -- forever. Go to the AA or other 12-step problem web sites for a more detailed explanation.
Good luck to you.

no, they cannot. Once an addict always an addict same with alcoholics, even though they may start back being alright with it they will eventually lead back down the same path from before.

No,once addicted, even though you go through quitting for a year .That is good, but the want for it is still there and always will be so you have to tell your self no.You have to tell your friends no and anybody who tries to bring you back to the alcohol and drugs are no longer your friends. If they were your friends, they would not offer this stuff to you.You have to be strong and keep strong.
Good luck and my prayers are with you.

there is a difference between being freed from something and just having the strength to say no. The latter means you are always at risk of breaking, being freed from an addiction means it no longer has any temptation in it

I stopped drinking 23 years ago. I stopped taking mood altering drugs at about the same time, but when I have to have a prescription for pain, it's still a struggle not to abuse it. Just my opinion, but "once a pickle, always a pickle". Can't go back to being a cucumber.

It's called "addiction" for a reason. So the answer is no, if they think they can they're still in Denial.

No! It will always be in the back of there mind. Best to stay off or not drink again. Old habits die hard and are easier to return.
