1 Peter 3:18 it says it so simply "he went to preach to the spirits in prison who disobeyed long ago "..that "prison" is hell. i hope that helps. When Jesus Christ died on the cross he gave up his spirit and descended into hell to take the full punishment for the sin that he became on the cross. When he came back he took with him the keys to hell, so that he had all power and authority. Now you know!

Everyone who died before Jesus's death and that was saved through faith in the messiah to come, they all went to a place called Abraham's bosom. This was not purgutory, there is no such thing as purgutory. Abraham's bosom was (not now) located in Hades. It was paradise for those that believed, but on the other side across from them, but separated from them, was the place where those who did not accept the message of the coming messiah and who didn't believe in the living God they were being tormented. The two sides could see each other but couldn't cross over. Jesus went down into Hades after His death and before His ressurection, to preach that He is that coming messiah and those with Abraham who were believers in the coming messiah Jesus were taken up into Heaven immediately. We on the other hand when we get saved or born again by faith in Christ, we go now immediately to be with the Lord. We don't have to wait where they waited which wasn't bad or anything it was paradise but not Heaven. Now they are in HEAVEN with new believers who die.

According to Christian Doctrine, all the people who died Before Jesus' birth,
went to paradise. Read the story of Lazarus and the rich man in the Gospels. Hell and paradise located in the center of the earth, were ajacent to each other, but yet slightly separated by a gulf. All the old testament good people that obeyed the law and loved YHWH, went to paradise. Then when Jesus died on the cross, He ascended down into Paradise, and shared Himself (The Good News, Salvation) with all the Old Testament saints. All which chose to believe, went directly to heaven. And paradise was then done away with, - no longer exists. After Jesus shared Himself(His Life, death, and resurrection) with them, He went back to earth that others might see Him and then Jesus ascended into Heaven. Most of all the Old Testaments saints(if I may use that term) are Now is Heaven.
This is the teaching of the christian faith and of the bible. Hope this helps you a little.

I'm a muslim, so i believe Islam has been around since Adam and Eve. So people before Jesus who believed in God would go to heaven. That would be stupid if people before Jesus went to hell for not knowing about religion, it wouldn't be fair. I don't understand the purgatory concept? If you are judged while being on Earth shouldn't you either go to Heaven or Hell, and nowhere else?

It doesnt matter what religion you believe in. As long as you believe the Jesus Christ. Yes, i believe that whoever asked God in their hearts went to heaven, even before Jesus went back to heaven again. God made heaven for everyone orginally, Hell was just suppose to be for the devil and his so called angels, but then when adam and eve sinned and luther who is satan fail away from God is became for those who sinned. There is a scriptcure in the bible.. Romans 3:23... For all who fallen short of the Glory of God.. Remember one sin keeps u out of heaven,

I think your religion teacher is weird. The actions of Jesus count for everyone, regardless of whether or not they lived after He died. God is kind and fair.
I think that true heaven (the eternal kind) doesn't really happen until after the second coming of Christ and the end of the world. But before the race of man dies, when individuals die they go to paradise or hell (depending on how God judges them). Paradise being a happy (but temporary state).

at the beginning, nowhere in the Bible does it say all people is going to heaven different than Jesus Christ. yet to respond to your question as in case you meant to declare, "How did people get into the dominion of God previously Jesus grew to become into born (truthfully, died)?" they did not. everybody who has died -- from previous to present day -- is lifeless and of their graves. that's what the Bible says. even though, it additionally exhibits that that may not the place they are going to stay. on the return of Jesus Christ to rule the earth, the "lifeless in Christ" will upward thrust up and then those (Christians) who're alive, whilst he comes. and that they are going to take transport of immortal spirit bodies, and stay and reign with Christ on earth (Revelation 20:6, Romans 8:11, a million Corinthians 15:35-50). a million Thessalonians 4:sixteen-17 -- For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the lifeless in Christ will upward thrust first. Then we who're alive and proceed to be would be caught up alongside with them in the clouds to fulfill the Lord in the air. And as a result we will continuously be with the Lord. "The lifeless in Christ" are all people who sought to do the will of God in the process the a while, from "righteous Abel" on -- all people who saved God's commandments and the religion of Jesus Christ: Revelation 14:12 -- right this is the endurance of the saints: listed decrease than are they that shop the commandments of God, and the religion of Jesus. observe, whilst God calls his saints to resurrection, they are of their graves, not in heaven or hell: John 5:28-29 -- ask your self not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, And shall come forth; they that have carried out solid, unto the resurrection of existence; and that they that have carried out evil, unto the resurrection of damnation. .

The just who were in limbo(abrahams bosom) befor Jesus went to heaven that is why Jesus descended into the dead to preach the Gospel to those who will soon be in heaven... they are in heaven now ....... maybe they did suffer purification but i wouldn't mention purgatory or you'll get a loud rattle from protestants..

From a non-catholic standpoint, the Bible tells us that Abraham, Moses, Enoch, Adam, etc. we Justified by their faith. There's no reason to think they went to Hell. Limbo/Purgatory aren't generally held Protestant beliefs, so that would lead to only one conclusion.
Abraham's Bosom is akin to The New Jerusalem - another name for Heaven, or so I've been taught.

They went to a waiting place for all the dead--not heaven & not hell & not purgatory.
The place is called Hades (hado). It is called Sheol in the Old Testament.
