She has a 100.8 fever and the doctor sad to take motrin for pain and fever and an antibiotic for the ear infection.
My concern is that she does not want to eat or drink much. I am trying to keep her hydrated, but have not much success. She eats chese and bananas but not much, an wont touch other food or even her bottle.

I dealt with that so much when my son was that age. The Dr told me that the reason he wouldn't drink his bottle was because the sucking put pressure on the inner ear and made it hurt. He said that if I could get a little bit down him every hour or so, then he would be getting enough liquids. He said to alternate the Motrin with Tylenol to keep the pain and fever at bay. In a couple of days on the Antibiotic it should start to clear up and the pain should decrease. I hope that she starts feeling better soon.

as long as shes peeing regularly she'll be okay-- pedialyte popsicles or freezies are good.. Eating like you said don't worry about it too much it takes at least 24 to 48 hrs before the antibiotic will start to work on that infection... Trust me motrin doesn't work for everyone- children's tylenol will relieve her pain & fever faster then motrin which isn't acetaminophine ( fever). Advil is good for pain & last longer although it contains less acetaminophine then tylenol.. Try a different pain & fever relief for her until the antibiotics kick in...

My oldest had chronic ear infections so I know what your going through. All you can do is try to keep her comfortable with the motrin and even keep her head elevated can help try putting a pillow or phone book under the end of the mattress where her head lies.
You can also try pediasure it is a meal replacement for children you can buy at any drugstore *I'm in Canada
Just give her what she will take she will not starve herself, and in a couple days you'll forget she was sick.
Good Luck!

Try to get her to drink from a cup like an adult. It will be messy, but will be more comfortable.
Sucking on bottles, or sippy cups causes pressure on the ear drum. Which is very tender right now.
Drinking from a cup requires no sucking.
Within 24 hours of being on the antibiotic you should see a marked change in your daughters disposition. But until then, keep her comfortable, and keep her hydrated.

IT is rough, but hte first thing you need to worry about is the pain, once she has that under control she will begin toeat and drink normally. The fever is the biggest thing to worry about. Just keep and eye on her tear production and count her wet diapers. That is how you will know if she is getting enough fluids. I know it is rough but you are doing exactly what you should be doing, has the doc given her an antibiotic? If not you should demand one, and ear infection requires such treatment.

it is totally problem-unfastened for babies to get unwell lots whilst they start going to an afternoon care or babysitter that watches different childrens. in the event that they have been at residing house or with kinfolk with out dissimilar different childrens around, they probable have not been uncovered to too many viruses. Their immune structures have not had to placed up lots of a combat, so their not waiting for the different childrens' bugs. those childrens all have issues their brothers and sisters further residing house from college or their dad and mom further residing house from paintings. certainly, I examine that youngsters who've 6 or 7 viral infections (not bacterial infections, like ear infections) a 365 days for the 1st few years finally end up extra healthy in the long-term with the aid of fact their immune structures are built up. despite the fact that, ear infections are not viral, yet they're undesirable. some antibiotics merely paintings extra valuable for various childrens. We went by using dissimilar ear infections with our daughter and many distinctive antibiotics. The ear infections saved coming lower back with extreme fevers, like 104. in the adventure that your newborn does not have extreme fevers or is in distinctive soreness, why not permit it heal clearly? Ear infections do now and lower back sparkling on their very own. a minimum of provide it a attempt. In some days, you will probable have the potential to tell in the adventure that your newborn is getting worse or extra valuable. If he/she does look worse, attempt a distinctive antibiotic. Ask to attempt something different than an ammox; those won't paintings on your newborn. We ended up putting tubes in our daughter's ears at 15 months and have had no problems in view that.

ask dr about an ear drp called ear-gesic.... it works wonders. I told a friend about it last week and her dr. had given antibiotics and told her to give tylenol. After a couple of days I called her and suggested ear-gesic and within the hr. her daughter was running and playing and soon after had a slight appetite. I have to little ones. My first had ear infections cont. for 1 yr. and a new dr. My old pediatrician suggestion surgery and I took him to a ne dr. She suggested ear-gesic and he had no more. .....after having my second son. He had his first and last ear infection w/ ear-gesic. He's now 2 1/2 and haven't had anymore. Needless to say, she's still my kids pediatrician and I won't be going anywhere. I'll be praying for a speedy recovery. Never good to have a sick one...they are soo helpless. Take Care!
